The morphological features of the true acetabulum in patients with DDH can be evaluated comprehensively by using 3D implantation simulation. Segmental bone deficiency was prevalent in the dysplastic hips, especially those in the Crowe-II/III group. Both the severity and the individual morphology of the acetabular dysplasia should be carefully considered in preoperative planning.
Background:The ongoing outbreak of novel corona virus disease 2019 in Wuhan, China, is arousing international concern. This study evaluated whether and when the infected but asymptomatic cases during the incubation period could infect others.
Methods:We collected data on demographic characteristics, exposure history, and symptom onset day of the confirmed cases, which had been announced by the Chinese local authorities. We evaluated the potential of transmission during the incubation period in 50 infection clusters, including 124 cases. All the secondary cases had a history of contact with their first-generation cases prior to symptom onset.
Results:The estimated mean incubation period for COVID-19 was 4.9 days (95% confidence interval [CI], 4.4 to 5.4) days, ranging from 0.8 to 11.1 days (2.5th to 97.5th percentile). The observed mean and standard deviation (SD) of serial interval was 4.1±3.3 days, with the 2.5th and 97.5th percentiles at -1 and 13 days. The infectious curve showed that in 73.0% of the secondary cases, their date of getting infected was before symptom onset of the first-generation cases, particularly in the last three days of the incubation period.
Conclusions:The results indicated the transmission of COVID-9 occurs among close contacts during the incubation period, which may lead to a quarantine loophole.Strong and effective countermeasures should be implemented to prevent or mitigate asymptomatic transmission during the incubation period in populations at high risk.
Structure characteristics of titanium oxide layer on titanium matrix were investigated by Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy (RBS), Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES) and X-ray diffraction. It has been identified that the titanium oxide layers had rutile structure. The blood compatibility of the titanium oxide layers of different thickness was studied by blood clotting time measurement. It was shown that as the thickness of the titanium oxide layers increased, blood compatibility of these layers was obviously improved.
These findings constitute the first experimental evidence that ADSCs are efficacious in improving PLT levels and reducing the related Th cytokines mediating proinflammatory response in ITP mice, which may provide a scientific basis for using ADSCs as a new therapy for ITP.
To
understanding the biomass pyrolysis process in depth, the pyrolysis
mechanism of cellulose was investigated based on the combination of
gas and liquid product releasing behavior with the structure evolution
of solid product at 200–600 °C. In particular, the transformation
process of the chemical functional group of solid char was explored
with two-dimensional perturbation correlation infrared spectroscopy
(2D-PCIS). It was found that at a lower temperature (<350 °C),
it was mainly the dehydration and keto alcohol isomerization of cellulose
and the char was mainly composed of aromatic and alicyclic compounds
rich in CO structures. With temperature increasing (350–450
°C), glycosidic bonds were rapidly broken, with volatiles increasing
greatly, and formed network structure containing low-order fused rings
(2–5 rings). At a higher temperature (450–600 °C),
the accelerated etherification of pyran rings resulted in a continuous
increase of LG and solid char went to higher-order fused rings (2
× 2–4 × 4 rings). These mechanistic insights are
helpful for the understanding of the biomass pyrolysis process.
Neck-shaft angle in the DDH groups was not larger than that in the control group. Comparing to Crowe I, Crowe II-III DDH and the control group, Crowe IV DDH had a dramatic change in the intramedullary and extramedullary parameters, especially the dramatic narrowing of medullary canal around the level of the lesser trochanter. The on-shelf modular prosthesis may not be an ideal choice for the Chinese patients with Crowe IV hips.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
