Just the shape of it: Tetrakaidecahedral (see picture, left) and oblique parallelepiped (right) α‐Fe2O3 polyhedra with exposed high‐index facets were obtained in high yield. Magnetic studies show that these two forms of iron oxide have distinct magnetic properties owing to their different shapes and different exposed high‐indexed facets.
The formation of Cu2SnSe3 tetrapod nanocrystals is reported using a hot injection colloidal synthesis. The ternary copper chalcogenide nanocrystals nucleate with a cubic core with four short wurzite arms.
In this paper, the progress in nonlinear dynamics of gear driven systems in the past twenty years is reviewed, especially the gear dynamic behavior, by considering the backlash and time-varying mesh stiffness of teeth. The basic concepts, the mathematical models and the solving methods for the non-linear dynamics of geared systems are then reviewed. The critical issues for further research on the nonlinear vibration in gear transmission systems are also discussed. There are 204 references cited in this review article.
Supercharged unfolded polypeptides (SUPs) are exploited for controlling ice nucleation via tuning the nature of charge and charge density of SUPs. The results show that positively charged SUPs facilitate ice nucleation, while negatively charged ones suppress it. Moreover, the charge density of the SUP backbone is another parameter to control it.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
