Objetivo: Determinar la asociación entre anemia en gestantes con edad materna de riesgo y bajo peso al nacer. Métodos: Se realizó un estudio de tipo no experimental, retrospectivo, transversal, analítico, de casos y controles. En el periodo de octubre a diciembre del 2019, se registraron un total de 312 gestantes con edad materna de riesgo (gestantes adolescentes y añosas), de los cuales 72 eran anémicas (Hb < 11 g/dl), siendo este el número de casos, y con el fin de mejorar la potencia estadística se estableció la relación entre casos y controles de 1:2, siendo el número de controles o gestantes no anémicas con edad materna de riesgo 142. Se analizaron características generales por grupo de gestantes anémicas y no anémicas, y su asociación con edad materna de riesgo. Se determinó mediante prueba de Chi-cuadrado y Odds ratio la asociación de anemia en gestantes adolescentes y añosas por separado con bajo peso al nacer. Resultados: Entre las variables estudiadas las gestantes anémicas presentaron mayor frecuencia de nuliparidad y parto vaginal, y en menor frecuencia antecedente de aborto y control prenatal adecuado. Las gestantes adolescentes que cursaron con anemia no se asociaron a mayor riesgo de bajo peso al nacer (p=0,056). Las gestantes añosas que cursaron con anemia se asociaron a 6 veces mayor riesgo de bajo peso al nacer (IC:95%: 2,22 a 18,03; p=0,000). Conclusión: Las gestantes añosas tienen mayor riesgo de presentar productos con bajo peso al nacer. En el mes de abril se hizo evidente uno de los tantos problemas sociales generados a causa de la pandemia, producto de la emergencia sanitaria y la paralización de actividades. Cientos de compatriotas se vieron con la dificultad de mantener sus puestos laborales, situación apremiante, en especial, para los que provienen de diferentes zonas del interior del país y dependen de los ingresos del día a día; es así que, el 14 de abril, se hizo noticia que un grupo de aproximadamente 700 personas, entre ancianos, adultos y niños, iniciaron su retorno hacia Huancavelica pues ya no tenían los medios para subsistir.
Objetivo. Determinar los factores epidemiológicos y conductas de riesgo asociados al estadio sida en pacientes mayores de 15 años. Material y Métodos. Estudio observacional, analítico y transversal. Se estudiaron 487 pacientes con infección por VIH, de los cuales 64 presentaban estadio sida, atendidos en el programa VIH-sida del Hospital Nacional Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen, en el periodo 2016-2017. Se analizaron variables epidemiológicas y conductas de riesgo. Se determinó, mediante la prueba estadística de ji cuadrado, aplicando corrección de continuidad y odds ratio la asociación entre las variables de exposición y la progresión a estadio sida. Resultados. Se asociaron a estadio sida las variables sexo masculino (p = 0,004 < 0,01, OR: 4,46), no uso de preservativo (p = 0,001 < 0,01, OR:14,02) y más de dos parejas sexuales (p = 0,001 < 0,01, OR: 12,70). Asimismo, ser heterosexual se asoció como factor protector (p = 0,001 < 0,01, OR: 0,021) y se determinó que la vía de transmisión más frecuente fue la sexual con 91,78 % y como comorbilidad más frecuentemente asociada a la tuberculosis con 8,21 %. Conclusión. Los factores epidemiológicos y conductas de riesgo asociados a estadio sida fueron sexo masculino, no uso de preservativo y más de dos parejassexuales y como factor protector, ser heterosexual.
La coartación de aorta es una causa poco frecuente de hipertensión arterial secundaria, asimismo representa aproximadamente el 5-10% de las cardiopatías congénitas. El presente reporte relata el caso de una mujer de 42 años, con hipertensión arterial refractaria, quien recibió un diagnóstico y manejo inadecuado en el primer nivel de atención. Finalmente, se le diagnosticó una coartación de aorta. Se resalta la importancia de una anamnesis detallada y el examen clínico en la práctica médica rutinaria y una buena anamnesis como herramienta principal de todo acto médico, así como la derivación oportuna a la especialidad correspondiente para su manejo.
