The problem of the research is to investigate the rising demand in the update of the higher education system in Latvia, existing prerequisites, and key factors of its further development. The interest of the research is determined by the need of modern society to support higher education in an order to ensure the competitiveness of human resources. The purpose of the research is to determine key factors of higher education development in Latvia, existing prerequisites, implications, and challenges, also fostered by COVID-19 pandemic impact. The research methods include analysis of scientific abstracts, legislation acts, and industry and public bodies' reports, analysis of statistical data, and a survey. The research results have shown -complex solutions are needed to increase the international competitiveness of the educational sector in Latvia.
The aim of the abstract is to investigate challenges the secondary and higher education institutions face during the pandemic times in Latvia and to discuss strategy to be developed in an order to ensure smooth transition into the remote study process with the help of a technological inventory appropriate to be used for remote study process. Challenges both secondary and higher education institutions and their staff experience have to be analysed as well, altogether with the outcomes. A combination of the remote and in-class education, issues and benefits are overviewed in the paper as well. ISMA, the University of Applied Sciences and its transition approach were examined thus establishing strong practical benefit of the research. The research problem is to analyse existing challenges education establishments in Latvia used to face with during the period of pandemic and to examine solution strategy and tools to be applied in an order to establish smooth transition from in-class to a remote study process. The conclusion of the research: no doubts the establishment of the transition process from in present studies into the remote mode was challenging and complicated, however it was realised in a consonance of the frameworks and recommendations designed both by the European and Latvian public bodies. The process of remote studies is challenging, still many advantages were discovered and this let to conclude the approach of combined education has a right to be applied even after the pandemic is over. The outcomes of the research are also beneficial for other educational establishments of Latvia and abroad, thus ensuring known approach when rapid and clear transition strategies must be taken. The developed strategy might be applied in case if there is a necessity to ensure establishment of remote studies within short period of time.
An approach to the development of modern process of distance learning in the higher education requires application of modern tools and technologies. It is a known fact that distance learning is mainly online and has become a synonym of a technological progress and globalization development. However, a long time experience of working with distance students and gained feedback during a communication process made it necessary to discuss a statement: modern distance and online education must become more communicative and flexible, ensuring fast connectivity, a possibility to assess students' needs and individual approach.The theoretical framework of the article includes the analysis of an increasing role of the communication process in the distance education. A method of application of learning solutions based on the experience realms model in order to improve student's retention for distance learning is considered as a tool in an order to retain a distant student. The study consists of the introductory part, where main prerequisites for the application of modern technological solutions in order to retain a student are given, and theoretical part where postulates of Experience Economy are analyzed and present researches related to the topic are over viewed. Methodological part is presented with an observation of existing communication tools for distance learning and methods of its application in order to retain students' attention during the process of distance learning; conclusions where main findings are summarized and proposals of offered methods and technological solutions in order to retain a student for distance learning are given.
The article discusses the online marketing complex of tourism and socioeconomics of the online-tourist industry. The analytical data will enable to understand the current business trends in the competitive market today. The key objective of this research is to examine the eTourism developments around the world and in Greece as a country that is gradually embracing eCommerce. The prospect of the online-tourism is presented on the example of Greece tourism website InThessaloniki.com. The research reveals the features of tourism business and discusses important milestones in its development. Although it is rapidly becoming a growing topic of research, the information on the websites seems to be the only rescue for the researchers. At the same time, it forewarns and forearms the marketers of tomorrow about its importance as future mode of acquiring information and purchase of tourism products and services. The analyse of the socioeconomics of the online-tourist industry will enable to understand the current business trends that are more competitive in the market than the exists today. It will provide an opportunity to attract new business customers and receive additional profit. The author assumes that the analyses of the online- tourism market technologies have been instrumental in increasing the domain of awareness and accessibility while reducing the uncertainty with respect to communication gaps. With future high projections in all the spheres of tourism, it’s not gainsaying that technology can help us manage tourism operations better through ensuring high efficiency in working with clients, increase their loyalty and the sales rates of the company. The author analyse the socioeconomics, entrepreneurial activity, internal and external environment of the tourist industry.
The problem of the research is maintaining the sustainability of tourism development in the regions of Latvia, taking into account COVID-19 pandemic impact and instable economic situation. The aim of the research is to analyse existing prerequisites of the sustainable tourism development and conformity of adopted measures to support tourism enterprises. The tasks of the research include analysis of existing industry indicators, supportive measures and strategical vision of long term development. The research question is to consider if short-term proposed measures and long-term strategical plans are enough to ensure the development and sustainability of the tourism industry in the country and its regions. The major differences exist in the tourism industries of different EU states and that there is no single solution for all. Existing UNWTO tourism recovery strategies as well as existing Latvian state short term supportive measures and long term strategical vision provide only partial solutions to a problem. However, the situation changes dynamically and requires a new kind of evidence-based policy to establish continuous sustainable tourism industry development in the post COVID-19 era taking into consideration state and regional existing prerequisites for industry development in the country.
