Se tuvo como objetivo aislar y evaluar la capacidad degradadora de cianuro de Klebsiella sp. de la planta de tratamiento de aguas residuales de Magollo, Tacna, Perú. Se colectó sedimento y se enriqueció mezclándolo con medio líquido buffer cianuro, pH 10, e incubó a temperatura ambiente durante 7 días. Este enriquecimiento se repitió seis veces tomando como nueva muestra la suspensión enriquecida y como diluyente el medio líquido buffer cianuro. Se tomó inóculos de 0,1 ml del último enriquecimiento y se sembró sobre la superficie del medio agar buffer cianuro contenido en placas Petri e incubó a temperatura ambiente durante 3 días. Las colonias fueron caracterizadas macro y microscópicamente. A la colonia aislada se le evaluó su capacidad degradadora de cianuro, sembrándola en un medio líquido buffer cianuro, pH 10, con una concentración de cianuro de 0,168 ppm e incubó a temperatura ambiente durante 4 días. Finalmente, se hizo la identificación molecular. El resultado fue el aislamiento de una cepa bacteriana degradadora de cianuro con capacidad de degradación de cianuro de 68,45 %, identificada molecularmente como Klebsiella sp.
