In the advent of Information and Communications Technology in education, competence and skills for technology-based instruction are essential for teachers. With this, there is a need to continually train and equip teachers with understanding and capabilities that will enable them to maximize the utilization of ICT in their instructional practices. Hence, this research determined the correlation of teachers' level of ICT competence towards their ICT integration practices and corroborated it to existing findings in Thailand and Vietnam. Using a descriptive-correlational design, the researchers found a link between and among variables. The chosen respondents for the study consisted of onehundred and nineteen (119) teachers from private institutions in a district in Bulacan. Results showed that teachers exhibited competence towards ICT integration. More so, teachers highly practiced ICT integration as part of their instructional practices and strategies in teaching. Results of regression analysis of the data revealed that the six dimensions of ICT competence significantly correlated to the teachers' ICT integration practices. The pedagogical practices and competence of Filipino teachers are the same as the Thai and Vietnamese teachers towards ICT Integration. It is recommended that schools maintain teachers' competence and confidence towards ICT integration thru enhancement or faculty development programs.
The proliferation of science and technology in society allows learners to be more informed about the changes and developments in society and education. Moreover, literacy evolved from the conventional way of reading and writing to applying and accessing information from a digital environment. Hence, this paper aims to look into a way to extrapolate the correlation of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) literacy and self-efficacy of Junior High School students in one private school in the district of Obando, Bulacan, Philippines. Using a descriptive-correlation research design, the researcher believes a significant correlation between and among variables. The chosen respondents for the study consisted of one hundred and thirty-five (135). The findings of the study revealed that Junior High School students had moderate literacy towards ICT. Also, this study found out that the Junior High School students described their ICT self-efficacy as moderately agreeing. Furthermore, results of the correlational analysis using Pearson r revealed that the ICT literacy of Junior High School students was significantly correlated to their ICT self-efficacy. It is recommended that the schools include this area in their annual improvement plan under the students’ services affairs. Schools should pay attention to this since majority of the private schools now at the height of integrating ICT in the school system and further uplift the ICT literacy and self-efficacy of Junior High School students toward ICT integration through an enhancement program.
The Alternative Learning System (ALS) has been found to be the new way for those who want to continue in their studies despite the challenges and current situation they are facing. Apparently however, there are studies recorded that there is a gap between the 21st-century skills of these ALS learners. With this concern, it becomes the notion of the researcher to describe and assess the 21st-century skills acquisition of enrolled Alternative Learning System Senior High School (ALS SHS) learners in one stand-alone public senior high school in the City of Meycauayan, Bulacan, for the School Year 2022-2023. The researcher made use of quantitative descriptive survey design to assess the 21st-century skills of 41 ALS SHS learners enrolled. Findings revealed that most of the respondents were female; in the age-range of 20-24 years old; and, have a monthly income of less than Php 5,000.00 a month. Alternative Learning System Senior High School (ALS SHS) learners had a moderate level of 21st-century skills acquisition. Furthermore, it showed that there is no significant difference on the 21st-century skills acquisition of ALS SHS learners when group according to gender and age-range, but there is a significant difference on the 21st-century skills acquisition of ALS SHS learners when group according to their socio-economic status (monthly income). For its recommendation, the proposed capacity building program aimed to improve further the Alternative Learning System Senior High School (ALS SHS) learners’ 21st-century learning skills and to jive on the current trends and challenges of 21st-century education despite of their struggles in life.
