O Diabetes Mellitus Gestacional é definido como qualquer nível de intolerância a carboidratos, resultando em hiperglicemia de gravidade variável, cujo início ou detecção ocorre durante a gravidez. O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar a frequência de Diabetes Mellitus Gestacional em gestantes atendidas no Hospital das Clínicas de Goiânia, Goiás. Trata-se de um estudo retrospectivo, realizado no Hospital das Clínicas da Universidade Federal de Goiás localizado no município de Goiânia-GO. Foram avaliados 1.173 prontuários de gestantes que realizaram o pré-natal durante o período de 2012 a 2015. Verificou-se que 9,8% das gestantes apresentaram Diabetes Mellitus Gestacional, sendo observada principalmente em gestantes de faixa etária de 31 a 40 anos (55,1%). Quanto ao número de gestações, a maior frequência observada foi três ou mais gestações (47,4%), parto cesáreo em 65,5%, histórico prévio de abortos em 12,9%, pressão arterial elevada em 35,3% e gestantes acima de 75kg em 62,1%. A frequência do Diabetes Mellitus Gestacional em relação às gestantes atendidas no Hospital das Clínicas, foi de 9,8%. Aspectos como idade avançada, sobrepeso, histórico prévio de aborto e pressão arterial, podem influenciar resultados obstétricos e, portanto, merecem atenção no pré-natal.
