Educational institutions have continuously adapted to new realities in school education, accelerated recently by the COVID-19 pandemic’s transformation of learning modalities. This article analyzes teachers’ and Students’ acceptance of a web-based virtual reality (WebVR) tool called Virtual Campus proposed to overcome the limitations of teaching strategies using video conferencing platforms. To measure the acceptance of the Virtual Campus, we designed an instrument based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) that involves variables related to online contexts, the future perception of using the tool, skills development, and appreciation and recommendation. The results indicate that the participants favorably accepted WebVR technology as an alternative teaching methodology in emerging learning scenarios and intend to use it post-pandemic. The best-valued elements were interactions in the socialization spaces, the simulation of presence, and the environmental dynamics. The principal areas of opportunity for improvement were overcoming technical problems and improving the internet connection quality; however, these did not affect the participants’ recommendations. Future studies should incorporate variables related to analyzing learning mediated by WebVR-based strategies and using different methodological designs to compare the findings.
El aseguramiento de la calidad exige una reflexión no solo técnica, sino ética y filosófica, estos principios hacen que los estándares de los diferentes países no sean iguales y tengan sentido para cada realidad en particular. Este documento tiene como objetivo identificar cuales son las características de los procesos de aseguramiento de la calidad educativa. Se utilizó el método de mapeo sistemático considerándose 154 artículos publicados desde 2016 hasta 2020. Se vinculan los estudios publicados en dos bases de datos: Scopus y Web of Science (WoS). Se aplicaron criterios de inclusión, exclusión y calidad para obtener la información más relevante. Los resultados dan cuenta de características descriptivas de los procesos de aseguramiento de calidad, así como los principales enfoques metodológicos utilizados, las áreas de influencia, los contextos de aplicación y los temas abordados.
The paper discusses analytical applications of the business model canvas (BMC) formulated by Osterwalder & Pigneur [1]. From this model, a methodological tool was devised and used as part of an academic research project, in which the categories (blocks) of the BMC were taken as conceptual categories and further processed through a failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA). The specifics of reversing the business model canvas are examined, since the model was conceived for entrepreneurs and not strictly for the analysis of pre-existing companies. The application of the tool was done within the multidisciplinary mixed methods (quantitative and qualitative) project 'Business dynamics of the audiovisual industry in Bogota', which was carried out from October 2017 to May 2019 at Manuela Beltran University in Bogota, Colombia. The methodological tool was applied to 32 key companies and four institutions of the local audiovisual industry through semi-structured interviews with people in managerial positions. The nine blocks of the BMC were conceptually developed to analyse the empirical data, holding them as internal variables. The assessment of the variables revealed opportunities for the growth and development of the companies and the whole industry, as well as patterns for the existing business models of the companies.
Este artigo apresenta os resultados de uma investigação realizada em uma Instituição de Ensino Superior (IES) privada na cidade de Monterrey, no México, no contexto da pandemia COVID-19 durante o primeiro semestre letivo de 2020. O objetivo deste estudo é compreender o processo de continuidade acadêmica na modalidade de aulas online e sua relação com o desenvolvimento das competências digitais dos professores. Seguiu-se uma abordagem qualitativa e interpretativa da pesquisa baseada em um estudo de caso, utilizando como principais técnicas e métodos de coleta de dados a entrevista semiestruturada, a observação não participante e o grupo focal. Os resultados revelaram que a adaptação da mudança inesperada no formato das aulas online favoreceu o desenvolvimento de habilidades digitais em professores por meio de um processo emergente de autoformação que contribuiu para o cumprimento dos critérios de garantia de qualidade educacional no contexto de crise sanitária.
Las instituciones de educación superior han construido modelos de formación y evaluación por competencias con el interés de ajustarse a múltiples exigencias normativas, del mercado laboral, de tendencias educativas de los programas que ofertan y de necesidades sociales y estudiantiles. Por lo tanto, este artículo se suma al debate sobre mecanismos para el aseguramiento de la calidad de la educación superior, especialmente sobre estrategias de creación colectiva que involucren a docentes universitarios en la construcción de conocimiento para la integración de resultados de aprendizaje (RA) en los procesos de formación y evaluación por competencias. El enfoque de investigación es cualitativo y se siguió una metodología de investigación acción, en la cual se trabajaron las técnicas de investigación, observación y taller pedagógico con docentes de programas profesionales en salud. Los hallazgos permitieron proponer un sistema de evaluación que vincula los RA con la formación por competencias en programas de pregrado e identificar necesidades de monitoreo en los sistemas de evaluación para determinar el nivel de dominio de los RA en diferentes periodos del proceso académico de los estudiantes.
