La fibromialgia es una enfermedad caracterizada principalmente por dolor crónico generalizado, síndrome constitucional y trastornos del sueño; además, está asociada a factores genéticos y epigenéticos. El manejo de esta enfermedad es desafiante y costoso, por lo que se han buscado nuevas alternativas como el tratamiento de oxigenación con Cámara Hiperbárica que ha demostrado una notable mejoría en cuanto a la reducción del dolor en pacientes con Fibromialgia. La eficacia de este tratamiento es influida por diferentes mecanismos como la inducción de neuro plasticidad, actuando sobre las áreas de percepción del dolor y reduciendo la respuesta antinflamatoria. OBJETIVO: Describir la eficacia de la oxigenoterapia hiperbárica en el tratamiento sintomatológico de la Fibromialgia. METODOLOGÍA: Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica en las bases de datos (PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect). Se aceptaron artículos en inglés y español, artículos de libre acceso, artículos originales, revisiones bibliográficas y libros. En cuanto a los años de antigüedad de los artículos, fue un aspecto que no se consideró debido a la información limitada con relación a la patología. CONCLUSIONES: Existen estudios prometedores con el uso de la cámara hiperbárica para tratamiento de pacientes con fibromialgia reduciendo el dolor y síntomas como la falta de sueño y fatiga que ocasiona, sin embargo no existen estudios suficientes que comprueben que puede ser utilizada como una línea de tratamiento.
