Objetivos: Determinar la composición química del aceite esencial de Aloysia triphylla “Cedrón”, obtenido a partir de las hojas y tallos por el método de arrastre de vapor, que a su vez sirva como insumo para la elaboración de un enjuague bucal que pueda combatir la halitosis. Materiales y métodos: El material vegetal se recolectó de la ciudad de Huaraz y fue secado al medio ambiente, la extracción del aceite esencial se realizó por el método de hidrodestilación con arrastre de vapor de agua a presión y temperatura controlada, se almacenó en un frasco de vidrio ámbar en refrigeración. El rendimiento se determinó por el método gravimétrico volumétrico. La determinación de los componentes químicos se realizó por el método de Cromatografía de gases acoplada a espectrometría de masas utilizando un Cromatógrafo de gases marca Agilent Technologies 7890, detector espectrómetro de masas Agilent Technologies 5975C, Columna J&W 122- 1545.67659 DB-5ms, 325°C 60m x 250 μm x 0,25 μm. Resultados: Se obtuvo un porcentaje de rendimiento de 0,13%. Con respecto a la composición química del aceite esencial se encontraron 23 compuestos identificados por tiempos de retención y se obtuvieron 15,62% de Limoneno, 18,15% de β-citral y 25,13% de α-citral como los compuestos volátiles de mayor concentración presentes en el aceite esencial. Conclusiones: Se concluye que, según la determinación de los compuestos presentes en mayor porcentaje como Limoneno, β-citral y α-citral de propiedades antibacterianas, se puede elaborar un enjuague bucal para el tratamiento de la halitosis producida por el metabolismo de bacterias en la cavidad oral.
Introducción: La importancia del quitosano se debe a sus propiedades químicas y biológicas ya que es biodegradable, bioactivo, poli catiónico y biocompatible, lo que le confiere una gran utilidad en la industria en aspectos biomédicos. La efectividad de sus derivados tales como la carboximetilquitosano está comprobada debido a que presenta propiedades como el ser soluble en agua y actuar como antimicrobiano en el algodón usado en la industria textil. El quitosano se extrae a partir de la quitina de los desechos de los crustáceos, siendo este polisacárido el segundo más abundante en la Naturaleza. Método: El presente estudio es de tipo aplicado con diseño y nivel experimental de corte transversal. Se utilizó, por un lado, dos variedades de plátanos: plátano isla (Musa paradisiaca) y plátano pildorita (Musa alinsanaya); de otro lado, se usaron cangrejos procedentes de los Manglares de Tumbes. La muestra no probabilística fue de 10 compotas de cada tipo de plátano y una solución de quitosano al 80% (p/v). La técnica microbiológica utilizada para el análisis de hongos y levaduras fue el recuento en placa. Se consideró evaluar el efecto conservante del quitosano respecto al del benzoato sódico. Resultados: En las muestras tratadas con quitosano (80% p/v), un 60% de ellas mostró ausencia de crecimiento y un 40% crecimientos de 5 UFC/g. Por otro lado, en las muestras tratadas con benzoato de sodio (0,1% p/v) no hubo crecimiento bacteriano en el 80% de los casos y sólo en un 20% hubo crecimientos de 10 UFC/g. Conclusiones: el quitosano obtenido a partir de la quitina de cangrejo tiene efecto antimicrobiano sobre hongos y levaduras, cuando se utiliza en una proporción del 80% (p/v) en compotas procesadas de plátano peruano.
Objetivo: Evaluar el efecto reparador de un champú a base de cáscara de Carica papaya L. Materiales y métodos: Las cáscaras se deshidrataron por liofilización, una vez estabilizado se almacenó y se pudo formular un champú para probar su efecto reparador. Se analizaron los componentes de Ácidos grasos presentes por cromatografía de gases acoplada a espectrometría de masas. Se realizó el ensayo de irritación y sensibilización cutánea del champú en conejos. Se evaluó el efecto reparador utilizando la metodología de microscopía electrónica de barrido evaluando muestras de cabello virgen sometidas a diferentes agresiones, tales como tinción permanente y decoloración, que a su vez se sometieron a tratamientos con champú de cáscara de Carica papaya L. en concentraciones de 1% y 3% en comparación con champú base y un champú comercial. Resultados: En la determinación de Ácidos grasos de la cascara se obtuvo que contiene un 27,86% de Ácido linolénico, un 20,43% de Ácido palmítico y un 13,85% de Ácido linoleico. La evaluación de irritación cutánea en conejos permitió comprobar que el champú formulado en sus 2 concentraciones al 1% y al 3% no son irritantes. Se obtuvo que el champú con cáscara de papaya al 1% tiene un efecto reparador considerable evaluando la irregularidad. Conclusión: Se pudo demostrar la efectividad del champú a base de cascara de papaya al 1% en el tratamiento de reparación capilar demostrado en un modelo de cabello virgen.
Objetivo: Determinar la actividad antimicrobiana del aceite esencial obtenidos de las hojas y tallos de Aloysia triphylla “cedrón” provenientes de la ciudad de Huaraz, departamento de Ancash, distrito de Mancos. Materiales y métodos: Se utilizó el método de hidrodestilación por arrastre de vapor para la obtención del aceite esencial y para la determinación de la actividad antibacteriana se realizó por la metodología de difusión de agar frente a Streptococcus mutans ATCC 25175 y Porphyromonas gingivalis ATCC 33277 comparándolas con un control positivo el cual era un enjuague bucal comercial de clorhexidina al 0,05%. Resultados: Se obtuvo un rendimiento del 0,11 y en el estudio microbiológico se obtuvieron halos de 21,3 mm del aceite esencial y 19,9 mm del control positivo frente a Streptococcus mutans ATCC 25175 y de 35,5 mm en el aceite esencial y 25,4 mm del control positivo frente a Porphyromonas gingivalis ATCC 33277. Conclusiones: Se concluye que, que la actividad antimicrobiana que demostró el aceite esencial de Aloysia triphylla (cedrón) es superior al control positivo que fue un enjuague bucal comercial de clorhexidina al 0,05%, pudiendo este ser usado como fuente en la elaboración de preparaciones farmacéuticas en el tratamiento de infecciones causadas por estos microorganismos.
