In this paper, we emphasize where socio-economic organizations such as CESIE in Italy, form the platform to advance citizens' activities to reshape the power structure in nations, focusing on social and online media as the basic tool to create such in°uential activities that impact research and innovation, where particular examples are presented.
Rapid social, political, geographic and economic changes in the world, linked to technological revolution of the last century are followed by wide positive and negative changes in people lives and R&I processes (open markets, digitalisation, resource scarcity, poverty, etc.). Looking for solutions for a better future, the EU policy agenda for 2030 promotes actions which foster co-creation of innovations, targets sustainability and Sustainable Development Goals. As such, EU regions are motivated to enhance and capitalise local competences and resources to achieve a social impact and tackle glocal challenges more effectively. Such reinforcement of local development is possible applying interdisciplinarity in R&I processes, through the co-design of innovation by different stakeholders and the empowerment of informal innovation actors.
This article presents a methodological framework applied to the co-creation of innovation involving local stakeholders in the Madonie region in Sicily, the results gained and the role of the intermediate body – a Competence Cell responsible for facilitation of such collaboration. This process has been implemented in the frame of the Horizon 2020 FoTRRIS project.
The purpose of this paper is to deal with crowdfunding approaches' strength to in°uence the society, in particular, reforming the funding power structure in the society, to restructure the society wealth distribution, and to increase the°ow of opportunities in the nation. The approaches that can do that include local crowdfunding from within businesses, crowd funds' entities that are combined with unbiased management, and those combined with unbiased bank's support. Local crowdfunding from within businesses is indeed a unique tool for¯nancial stability at the neighborhood level, yet also in the nation's level upon generalizations, where these can shift socio-economic-power to the citizens. In generalizing crowd funds' entities, these are of value to¯ght biases in case combined with unbiased management; \unbiased crowdfunding" might prove simpler to create and maintain than the alternatives. Some of the example of works that we performed with local businesses are presented in this paper.
