The future of the modern world faces the appearance of different ways of mobility. Huge strive in today's world have gained autonomous vehicles. The paper explains how autonomous vehicles function as well as their advantages and disadvantages. New developments in autonomous vehicles are being accomplished and introduced to the user's demands. Many car companies have developed their own driverless vehicles and detected the problems within them. The major flaw of autonomous vehicles is cyber security because hackers are still able to break into the car's software system and disrupt it. This is a major issue which is still being dealt with. Autonomous vehicles have modernized the mobility of people, which means that people no longer have to come to the vehicle but the vehicle comes to them and are able to share transportation and thus lowering the traffic congestion and cost. Smartphone applications have been developed facilitating the carsharing system. Users consider these cars comfortable and stylish but expect high level of security. Autonomous vehicles enable the elderly, the disabled and physically limited people move much easier. Furthermore, autonomous vehicles reduce pollution and are environmentally friendly. It is anticipated that autonomous vehicles will take over the roads and are the future of transportation. They offer comfort, safety and good driving conditions. Hereafter, this paper represents important characteristics and features of autonomous cars.
The objective of this paper is to examine the types of autonomous vehicles already employed in transportation. It exemplifies the segments of transportation which already use autonomous vehicles. This paper gives an insight of the places in the world where autonomous vehicles are put in use. Furthermore, companies such as Volvo, Volkswagen, Airbus and WAYMO have showed their models of driverless vehicles ranging from trucks, buses, shuttles and helicopters. Moreover, the paper provides a description, testing methods, use and features of the each vehicle presented. In short, this paper aims to raise consciousness about the future of not just public transportation but also transportation of any other type such as good's transportation, delivery, vehicles provided for sightseeing, aircrafts etc.
Even the behavior of a single driver can have a dramatic impact on hundreds of cars, making it more difficult to manage traffic. While the attempts to analyze and correct the traffic patterns that lead to congestion began as early in the 1930s, it wasn't until recently that scientists developed simulation techniques and advanced algorithms to create more realistic visualizations of traffic flow. In experiments conducted by Alexandre Bayen and the Liao-Cho, which included several dozen cars in a small-scale closed circuit, a single autonomous vehicle could eliminate traffic jams by moderating the speed of every car on the road. In larger simulations, the research showed that once their number rises to 5-10% of all cars in the traffic, they can manage localized traffic even in complex environments, such as merging multiple lanes of traffic into two or navigating extremely busy sections.
