The pharmaceutical industry is emerging as a significant industrial sector with tremendous potential for providing innovative drugs to treat life-threatening diseases as well as for providing economical generic alternatives of supreme quality. Hence this sector is not only responsible to provide the much desired boost to the health of the society, especially of the developing countries, but also it is a competitive yet profitable sector from a business perspective. Currently, the primary focus of the pharmaceutical industry is to raise the bar for the quality, safety and efficacy of the drug products that are made available in the global market place. Product quality, price of raw materials [API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) and excipients] and market return competition are vital factors that determine the longevity or existence and profitability of a company in the crowded pharmaceutical market.. Hence these critical factors receive special consideration from drug product manufacturers. Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) is the primary constituent of a pharmaceutical drug product that governs the final cost of the drug product as well as the commercial profit earned by the company. Most of the major generic drug manufacturing companies have their own API manufacturing facility and hence may not prefer to screen independent API suppliers as part of their generic drug development plan to procure additional API. Contradictorily, the generic drug manufacturers who do not synthesize the API themselves are dependent on external and independent API manufacturers for procurement of the API. Such generic drug manufacturing companies have to select suitable API suppliers by adapting a risk aversive approach. This article presents an informed and comprehensive discussion on the primary and alternate API supplier selection processes for generic drug products manufacturing firms. This API supplier selection process can be categorized into several stages which include preliminary assessment, documents review, samples analysis, onsite or offsite audit, results evaluation and final approval or rejection. This API selection process includes the anticipated product specific risk assessment with relation to API characteristics, specifications, analytical results, document review observations and inspection results. A generic drug product manufacturing company can choose an alternative API supplier or change the existing API supplier either during the development phase or after development of the drug product. Generic drug product manufacturing companies should rework on development activities if any API supplier change happens during the development phase. API supplier change or addition of an alternative API supplier has to be followed as per SUPAC guidance for US market and VARIATION filing procedures for European market.
Service quality has turned out to be the most important topic of consideration to academicians and practitioners. It has been proven that the influence of service quality on business performance, cost leadership, customer satisfaction, customer loyalty, and profitability. The accomplishment of quality in services has turned out to be a vital concern of all services organisations. Quality in services is mainly undefined and becomes the crucial issue. Increased competition and knowledge of customer satisfaction made the service organisations use new service parameters and implement quality management tools as competitive advantage. Service quality is hard to evaluate, as it is subjective in nature. Many researchers did explore and confirm the dimensions of service quality. This study focuses on various studies of service quality conducted by earlier researchers in an array of industries. The chapter details the development of service quality theory and different models hypothesised to measure service quality.
The study examines the use of drone technology in agriculture to predict the occurrence of pest and disease outbreaks. The purpose of the study is to comprehend competition analyses and determine the best entry tactics for the aerial imaging and advice service market. They can determine the current state of drone technology and create strategies based on the different companies providing drone services to farms by studying how farmers perceive the drone employed in predictive pest and disease analyses. These observations are highly valuable for comprehending how drone technology can affect Indian agriculture. A virtual survey gives a useful and accurate image; whether or not they utilise it for predictive forecasting and identification, and if they depend on the advice given by various sources or not, and most importantly, how best the drone service available in the market, whether farmers can afford for it.
The study presents the results of the work undertaken to analyse constructs that make the companies adopt big data in the food industry towards the financial and market performance. Data was collected from 300 food industry employees who work in vital roles in the company. Primary data was collected through a survey method and a theoretical model was tested. Technological—Organizational—Enviornmental (TOE) framework was adopted, and the factors were analysed using Smart PLS software. It reveals that trialability, observability, complexity, and top management support are having a greater influence on big data analytics (BDA) adoption. Furthermore, external support, uncertainty and insecurity, and organizational readiness are also identified to affect BDA adoption. The findings ascertain the impact of BDA on the financial performance and marketing performance of the organisations. Understanding the variables that affect BDA acceptability enables managers to take the appropriate steps for a successful deployment. The research aids BDA service providers in luring and spreading BDA in the food sector.
The objective of this study is to investigate the level of understanding that internet users have regarding data privacy, security, and protection. The study aims to determine the extent to which individuals are conscious of the potential hazards of sharing personal information online and the steps they take to secure their data. The research also examines the role of technology companies and government agencies in educating internet users about data privacy and security. The study was conducted in Bhopal using stratified random sampling, and data were collected from employees and students of an educational institution in Bhopal. The findings of this study will give an understanding of the current awareness of internet users and aid in future efforts to enhance data privacy and security for all users.
