There are many definitions for the term Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), but it can broadly be understood as a commitment that an organization must have towards society, expressed through actions and attitudes that affect it positively. In Latin America, in particular, this topic is still in maturing phase and few companies can actually develop CSR practices integrated into their management system. This paper aims to present CSR projects developed by a Brazilian aircraft manufacturer, Embraer, considered a reference in sustainable management practices and also verify if these activities are integrated into the company's management model in a mature way, as proposed by the literature. The research method was a 2 case study with semi-structured interviews with employees responsible for the institute's management that coordinated the projects. The results identified projects developed in six main areas: excellence in education, social partnership programs, entrepreneurship, corporate social responsibility, volunteering and preservation of the history of the Brazilian aeronautics industry. All these projects are exemplary managed and critically analyzed in relation to aggregation of value they provide to society, thus ensuring excellent results. As a conclusion of the survey, it was observed that Embraer has integrated the CSR practices with other existing management systems in a harmonious and mature form. Finally, the scientific value of this research lies in the presentation of CSR practices developed by one of the most important companies in Brazil, with a management system directed to excellence. Other companies and researchers can use these practices as a benchmark.
Highlights: Proposal to integrate the Business Model Innovation (BMI) influencing factors in a single framework. Twelve BMI influencing factors found through an integrative literature review. Factors grouped through an affinity diagram to design the framework architecture, containing four categories. The study highlights the importance for companies to consider the interrelationship between the influence factors to be successful in their BMI initiatives. Goal: This paper aims to provide an integrated framework that comprises influence factors for business model innovation, and describe them by exploring the linkages between different factors. Design / Methodology / Approach: an integrative literature review was conducted using PRISMA work flow to manage this kind of methodology. Results: This work finds 12 main potential influence factors for business model innovation. All factors have been grouped into four different categories, using the affinity diagram approach. Limitations of the investigation: Business model innovation is a recent research topic, and not all its influence factors are agreed upon. Despite the importance of grouping, those already described in a single framework, there may be other relevant factors not mapped. Originality / Value: Despite the existence of bibliographic material on specific influencing factors, there is, to the best of the authors’ knowledge, no study that integrates all the explored factors. This work contributes to literature by integrating the diverse factors into a single framework. Practical implications: It contributes to practice, enticing managers to reflect on their own environment, and on the possible paths to follow for succeeding with its business model innovations efforts.
Goal: The present work aims to present how the use of a blockchain two-factor authentication solution 2FA on a page developed on WordPress can contribute to the information security regarding user authentication. Design/Methodology/Approach: The research method employed is characterized as an exploratory research, since all the analysis is based on the theoretical reference data available on the subject. A field research was carried out in relation to the implementation of the multi-factor authentication plugin Hydro Raindrop MFA, which uses blockchain technology offered by The Hydrogen Technology Corporation and the Project Hydro platform over the Ethereum network. Thus, this paper sought to present and conceptualize some of the technologies used, pointing out their contribution to information security. Results: The main results showed that the use of decentralized technology, such as blockchain and the Hydro Raindrop Plugin, can contribute considerably in the process of user authentication, which may strengthen the safeguard of the information and assets of individuals and organizations by inhibiting or reducing the possibility of successful a hacker attack. This solution is at the forefront of innovation with regard to data security because it uses advanced blockchain technology. It might contribute in a satisfactory way to the preservation of critical data and information that are the core value of many organizations of the industry 4.0. Limitations of the investigation: This research was limited to analyzing how the implementation of the Hydro Raindrop multi-factor authentication solution on a WordPress page can be beneficial to ensure information security. Practical implications: This study’s findings can contribute to entities interested in cybersecurity. As a suggestion for future works, analyses of plugins or similar solutions available on the market in distinct types of websites, or performance comparisons between them, may be relevant to contribute to scientific research. Originality/Value: This work can contribute in an innovative way to scientific research, since it addresses a recently created solution that uses blockchain technology as its basis for a safer method of authentication.
Currently, the project management in enterprises has become a predominant factor. Often, companies execute their strategies through projects, and thus adopting tools and methodologies that improve the performance, enhancing competitive advantages. This study aims to examine the relationship of maturity and quality project management. For this, a survey was conducted in 10 companies in different segments, using two questionnaires: one, on project management aspects; another, about project maturity model (P3M3). The results of the studies have shown that companies that use quality tools in managing their projects have higher maturity levels.
The main objective of this study was characterised by analysing the barriers associated with the insertion of sustainable practices in small and medium-sized companies in the metalworking sector, considering the Brazilian reality. Thirteen barriers were previously listed from the literature, and information about them was collected from 24 experienced managers who know the realities of small and medium-sized companies in the sector. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics. The frequency distribution showed that in each barrier, there was more than 50% of the responses allocated in the upper range, that is, medium or intense observation, demonstrating that SMEs experience many difficulties in this theme. When comparatively analysed via Fuzzy TOPSIS, difficulties associated with lack of knowledge and financial resources/incentives that can support SMEs in adopting sustainable practices are highlighted. The main contribution of this study is to provide robust information that company managers and other researchers can use. In addition, the provided information can support more complex debates for structuring public policies.
After a recent merger, the in vitro diagnostic equipment trade company in Brazil, study object, faces difficulties for its logistics flow. The work proposes the application of the DMAIC tools, contained in the context of the six sigma, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) under the lean philosophy perspective in order to identify the focus of waste that can be improved, corroborating with lean thinking. Unlike the common application of VSM, used in manufacturing processes, this study has its application in a service chain. From the Methodology point of view, the case study uses a qualitative approach, having as strategy the bibliographics with a descriptive and explanatory objective. Additionally, it is delineated based on the DMAIC cycle to establish the industrial overview and method of conducting the process study, and consequently, the influence on the management by the guidelines and their impact on the management of the work routine. Thus, the VSM application is presented to control the flow of distributed inventory parts with the current and future process state maps. Finally, the analyzes show the results obtained with the reduction of the waste, from the centralization of the company's inventory.
