Zariski d6finit ce qu'il appelle l'equisingularit6 d'une hypersurface X le long d'un sous-espace lisse Y de codimension 1 et montre que cette propriete entraine les conditions de Whitney ([4], p. 540) pour le couple (Xlisse = partie lisse de X, Y) ([5], Theorem 8.1). Plus r6cemment, en 1971, dans son papier "Some open questions in the theory of singularities" [6], 0. Zariski etend cette notion au cas oil Y est de codimension quelconque ([6], Definition 3) et pose la question de savoir si les conditions de Whitney sont preservees ([6], Question E). Dans ce travail pr6cisement, nous repondons a cette question par l'affirmative en prenant toutefois une d6finition d'equisingularite 'a priori un peu plus exigeante-en codimension 1 les deux d6finitions coincident d'apres ([5] Theorem 5.2)-: Nous "projetons" X et Y parallelement a une direction transverse a X et "g6n6rique" pour l'eclatement w de X le long du produit de l'ideal de Y par l'ideal jacobien de X (c.f [2] Definition 2). Une telle direction est appelee direction de projection w-permise (Definition 4). Ainsi, si la codimension de Y (dans X) est > 0, nous disons que l'hypersurface X est equisinguliere le long de Y si Y est inclus dans le lieu singulier de X et si, suivant une projection lineaire parallele a une direction w-permise, le contour apparent de X est 6quisingulier le long du contour apparent de Y-par contour apparent, nous entendons, de facon generale, l'image si la codimension dans l'espace lisse ambiant est < 1 et le lieu discriminant (image du lieu de ramification) dans le cas contraire-. Nous pouvons alors montrer le: THEOREME I. Si 1'hypersurface X est equisinguliere le long de Y, alors, pour tout point Q de Y, la fibre -1(Q) est de dimension pure= dimension o '(Y)-dimension Y. dimension pure = dimension o -1(Y) -dimension Y, alors, le couple (Xlisse-Y, Y) verifie les conditions de Whitney le long de Y. Nous terminons ce travail en etudiant, sotIs l'angle des conditions de Whitney, le comportement par projection lineaire sur CN d'un couple forme d'un sous-ensemble analytique X de CN+1 de codimension > 1 et d'un sousespace lisse Y de X de codimension >0 (dans X). Nous obtenons le: TH'EOR'EME IV.Si (Xlisse -Y, Y) ne verifie pas les conditions de Whitney au voisinage d'un point Q de Y, alors, pour toute projection lineaire parallele a une direction "ge'nerique," il en est de meme, au voisinage de l'image de Q, pour le couple deduit du precedent en remplaqant X et Y par leur contour apparent respectif suivant...
