Les Hélicidés du Québec ne comprennent officiellement que l’escargot des jardins ou l’escargot des Vikings (Cepaea hortensis), une espèce amphi-atlantique, ainsi que l’escargot des bois (Cepaea nemoralis). Une troisième espèce s’y ajoute, l’escargot de Bourgogne (Helix pomatia), et elle fait partie des espèces dont l’Agence canadienne d’inspection des aliments ne permet pas l’importation vivantes. En 2007, la découverte de 2 individus et, 5 années plus tard, la recapture vraisemblable du premier spécimen qui avait été relâché démontrent que l’escargot de Bourgogne est capable de passer l’hiver à Québec. Nous présentons un aperçu de la famille des Hélicidés pour le Québec avec l’historique des premières mentions et décrivons les conditions de la découverte de ces 2 spécimens
Nous rapportons, pour la première fois au Québec, la présence de l’araignée sauteuse Phidippus audax Hentz, 1845 (Salticidae Blackwall, 1841) et de la tétragnathe verte Tetragnatha viridis Walckenaer, 1841 (Tetragnathidae Menge, 1866). Nous décrivons les conditions de leur découverte et commentons leur répartition. Nos observations concernant l’araignée P. audax suggèrent que cette espèce soit à la fois une espèce indigène (trouvée en milieu naturel en Mauricie et à Longueuil), mais aussi une espèce introduite comme en témoigne sa découverte dans des camions importés du Minnesota. La tétragnathe verte fut trouvée à 2 endroits éloignés (Contrecoeur et Terrebonne), dans des habitats très différents au cours des mois de juin et de septembre 2010
La découverte au Canada d’une espèce tropicale d’araignée à l’intérieur d’un édifice n’est pas surprenante en soi ; ce qui l’est cependant, c’est la présence d’une petite population établie depuis quelques années dans un pavillon de l’Université Laval, à Québec. Plusieurs mâles, femelles, adultes et juvéniles du saltique d’Adanson (Hasarius adansoni [Savigny et Audouin, 1825]) ont en effet été trouvés dans un aménagement intérieur de plantes tropicales de l’atrium du pavillon de l’Envirotron. Nous précisons les conditions de la découverte, la position taxinomique de l’espèce, sa répartition géographique, favorisée par les activités humaines et son mode d’alimentation possible sur des fourmis, entre autres, évoluant sur les plantes tropicales d’intérieur
La découverte de larves et d’adultes du ténébrion des écuries (Blaps lethifera lethifera Marsham, 1802 ; Tenebrionidae : Tenebrioninae : Blaptini), à l’hippodrome de Québec, et d’une certaine faune commensale associée à ce ténébrion, constitue l’objet de la première mention de cette espèce de Ténébrionidés pour le Canada. Les « hommes à chevaux » nous ont affirmé spontanément connaître les « barbots » depuis au moins 30 ans pour la majorité d’entre eux dans les vieilles écuries des autres hippodromes de Blue Bonnets, Rockland, Trois-Rivières et Meadowlands (New Jersey). Toutefois, il a été possible de retracer une personne qui avait côtoyé ce ténébrion depuis plus de 85 ans. L’insecte se serait implanté dans d’autres écuries du Québec puisqu’il fut positivement identifié en région, mais ses populations ne semblent pas s’être maintenues dans les écuries modernes étant donné qu’elles n’y furent pas rapportées
