A 52-year-old female admitted under the orthopedic team for debridement of an infected foot stump was being referred for an episode of hematemesis 1 day after her surgery. She had a recent right foot trans-metatarsal amputation few months ago. Her medical history includes type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated by diabetic foot ulcers, advanced chronic kidney disease, and Child-Pugh B(8) non-alcoholic steatohepatitis cirrhosis complicated by ascites. An esophagogastroduodenoscopy performed 2 years ago showed no varices.
