En este artículo analizamos los resultados de un estudio cualitativo que documenta los efectos subjetivos de la indistinción entre tiempos laborales y tiempos de ocio en el sector creativo, poniendo atención a las experiencias de las mujeres que se desenvuelven en el campo de las artes visuales de Santiago de Chile. Discutiremos, a la luz de los datos empíricos, los obstáculos conceptuales y prácticos de pensar un tiempo de ocio propiamente tal para las mujeres. En ese marco, y retomando el concepto de “trabajo fronterizo” desarrollado por Christena Nippert-Eng (1996), buscaremos visibilizar cómo estas gestiones permanentes impactan de modos específicos en su quehacer profesional y en su subjetividad artística. Reflexionaremos aquí acerca de cómo dicho trabajo fronterizo las lleva a enfrentar una sobrecarga que se agudiza con la maternidad y las empuja a desarrollar diversas estrategias para habitar estas temporalidades intersticiales.
