A través de los siglos, los anfibios han sido organismo muy importantes para la sociedad y el equilibrio ecológico por la gran diversidad que presentan en todo el mundo. El orden Anura es uno de los mas conocidos por la presencia de un gran número de ranas y sapos en el estado de Tabasco, ya que existen diversos reportes sobre la riqueza en la diversidad de estos organismos.
La diabetes millitus es una de las enfermedades con mayor impacto en la sociedad. Esta problemática provoca que las personas presenten la glucosa elevada en la sangre (hiperglucemia) y otras alteraciones que cambian el metabolismo. Las enzimas de restricción se utilizan para cortar de manera abierta un plásmido, por lo que la misma enzima se utiliza para cortar el gen deseado fuera del cromosoma; esta reacción hace dos cortes que emparejan y cuando se combina el gen y el plásmido forman un enlace temporal. Otra enzima denominada ADN ligasa se utiliza para crear un sello permanente. De esta manera se induce a las bacterias que tomen los plásmidos mientras que estas mismas se desarrollan y se multiplican en el medio, generando la insulina de manera natural a partir de bacterias.
La citogenética de la herpetofauna nativa de Tabasco ha retomado importancia desde el año 2009; debido al floreciente establecimiento de investigación en cuatro especies de anfibios ('Rhinella marina', 'Incilius valliceps', 'Dendropsophus microcephalus' y 'Smislica baudinii'); y de seis especies de reptiles hasta el 2018 ('Coleonyx elegans', 'Basiliscus vittatus', 'Iguana iguana', 'Kinosternon leucostomum', 'Staurotypus triporcatus' y 'Trachemys scripta'). Este documento presenta la compilación de estudios de citogenética realizados en especies nativas de Tabasco, México. Los caracteres citogenéticos establecidos en las diez especies, son los primeros datos para dichas especies en el Estado. En dicho sentido, se enmarca la importancia de tales estudios para entender el comportamiento citológico de las poblaciones nativas. Es de suma importancia que los estudios de genética y fisiología en todos los sentidos, se extiendan con el fin de comprender los mecanismos biológicos que ayuden a su protección.
