La presente tesis de doctorado aborda la relación de los socialistas argentinos con la cultura de masas en el período de entreguerras. Dada la centralidad otorgada a la práctica cultural dentro del socialismo argentino, la tesis repasa las principales posturas sostenidas frente al fenómeno, pero también las influencias que esta novedosa cultura de masas tuvo sobre las principales prácticas culturales del Partido en un contexto de crecimiento en la política formal argentina.
Este artículo analiza la cobertura realizada por La Vanguardia –periódico oficial del Partido Socialista Argentino– de las noticias ligadas al desarrollo de la aviación durante el período de entreguerras. El socialismo argentino siguió con sumo interés estas noticias, que se constituyeron en poderosas narrativas sobre el progreso y la modernidad, y que circulaban intensamente al nivel de la cultura de masas. Creemos que en el abordaje de este objeto es posible analizar el modo en que los socialistas se apropiaron del imaginario de lo moderno, al mismo tiempo que puede iluminar un acercamiento estratégico hacia la cultura de masas.

Este artículo aborda la vida y obra de Pedro E. Pico, miembro del Partido Socialista argentino, pero también, importante autor de la escena del teatro comercial en la primera mitad del siglo XX. Al realizar este análisis se pretende discutir los vínculos entre cultura de izquierda y cultura de masas y, a su vez, el modo en que los vínculos entre ambas esferas han sido caracterizados por un espectro amplio de la historiografía consagrada al tema.El hecho de que estas dos vertientes de su actividad no resultaron contradictorias en su trayectoria obliga a formular nuevas preguntas sobre las interrelaciones entre diferentes lógicas de prácticas culturales y el mundo del entretenimiento en la Argentina de la primera mitad del siglo XX.
