alone; (2) oral loratadine alone; (3) intranasal beclomethasone spray and loratadine together. Posttreatment STT was measured following 8 weeks of treatment. Results: Seventy-one patients were studied. There was improvement in the mean posttreatment STT in the beclomethasone intranasal spray alone group and the oral loratadine alone group. However, in both of these groups, the change in mean STT was not significant when evaluated using the student t test. In the third group, which was given intranasal beclomethasone combined with oral loratadine, there was no significant change. Conclusion: There was no significant improvement in the mucociliary function assessed using the STT test in all 3 treatment groups. However the largest improved change in mucociliary function was observed in the beclomethasone intranasal spray alone group.Significance: Treatment of perennial allergic rhinitis with intranasal beclomethasone or loratadine does not improve the impaired mucociliary function of these patients.
