El presente artículo tiene la intención de analizar el conflicto del Canal de Beagle entre Argentina y Chile a la luz de la teoría de la transformación de los conflictos. Para ello se presentará un recorrido histórico del mismo y un análisis de su resolución hasta la firma del Tratado de Paz y Amistad de 1984. Dicho Tratado constituyó un catalizador para la renovación de las relaciones internacionales entre ambos países y el comienzo de un proceso de integración y amistad que pueden comprenderse a la luz de la cultura kantiana.
En febrero de 1832 el enviado argentino en Londres, Manuel Moreno, envió una nota reservada a Buenos Aires, en la cual advertía sobre la posibilidad de que el Reino Unido atacara a las Islas Malvinas, violentando la soberanía argentina. El objetivo del presente artículo pretende analizar dicho valioso documento a la luz de la historia de las relaciones internacionales, a la vez que poner en evidencia las cualidades del diplomático argentino, quien posteriormente se destacaría por la famosa Protesta, luego de la usurpación británica de enero de 1833.
