Wireless Sensor Networks are becoming a worldwide sensational topic with recent advances in wireless communications and digital electronics. It serves as the backbone for controlling real-life applications. It consists of group of sensor nodes that sense the information from an event area and passes it to the base station which reacts according to the environment. There are number of cluster based routing protocols, in which a region is divided into number of clusters and within each cluster, a cluster head is elected based on some parameter. So, a novel selection method for the cluster head having efficiency in energy is based on Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA) is proposed in this paper. The performance of our proposed scheme is being analyzed and is compared with the already existing protocols like LEACH, C-LEACH and K-Means in terms of energy efficiency, number of alive nodes, packet drop ratio and energy dissipation etc
The study was conducted to explore the relationship between impulsiveness and academic procrastination of school students. The study was conducted on 100 school students.Impulsiveness Scale adapted by the investigator (Ray and Sharma, 1988) and Academic Procrastination Scale adapted by the investigator (Kalia and Yadav,2013) was used for data collection. Results indicated that significant variance in impulsiveness was not found among school students belonging to different categories. The school students having more academic procrastination were more impulsiveness as compared to school students who have low level of academic procrastination. There was significant relationship between impulsiveness and academic-procrastination of school students
Adolescence is a critical period of transition from childhood to adulthood, which is characterized by rapid physiological changes and psycho-social maturation. This is a turning point in one's life, a period of increased potential but also of vulnerability. Some key issues and concerns observed among adolescents include, those relating to forming of self-image, managing emotions, building relationships, strengthening social skills, and dealing with peer pressure. Given the stage of their lives, adolescents are more prone to act impulsively and take risks. While many adolescents are able to deal effectively with challenges, some struggle and may experience psychological morbidity. Globally, one in seven in the adolescent age group has a mental disorder, which accounts for 13% of the global burden of disease (1). Depression, anxiety and behavioural disorders are important causes of illness and disability among adolescents, and suicide is the fourth leading cause of death among 15-19 year-olds (2).
Background:The misuse of ilicit drugs has become a very significant and challenging problem, worldwide. There has been significant increase in crime and violence across the world which may be associated with the illegal production and distribution of illicit drugs. According to a UN report, the number of people dependent on drugs in India is on the increase, indicating very difficult challenges ahead. Aims: The present study explores the effectiveness of a life skills intervention to change the attitudes of youth towards alcohol and drug abuse, in the Punjab state of India. Methods: A quasi-experimental design of research was used to conduct the study among a sample of 1000 first year college students from 6 randomly selected districts of Punjab, India. The scales used for measuring the attitudes of college students towards alcohol and drug abuse were developed for the purpose of this study. Conclusions: The results of analysis of covariance revealed that life skills training had a significant effect on changing attitudes towards alcohol and drug abuse, among study participants. The findings from this study suggest that the introduction of appropriate life skills programs within institutes of higher education in India, could significantly improve the attitude of youngsters towards the misuse of illicit drugs. This may impact their behavior and reduce future misuse of illicit drugs.
The study was conducted to explore the relationship of narcissism with social loafing and self-compassion.The study was conducted on 200 government school students. The Narcissism scale was developed by the researchers,Social Loafing Scale (SLS) by Q.G.Alam and Ramji Srivastava (2008) and Self-compassion Scale (SCS) by Kristin Neff (2003) were used to collect the data. The results revealed a no significant gender differences in narcissism of school students. But there were significant locale wise differences in narcissism among school students. It was also found that there is a significant positive relationship of narcissism with both self-compassion and social loafing.
The study was conducted to explore the relationship between cognitive flexibility and well-being of school students. The study was conducted on 100 school students.Cognitive Flexibility Inventory (Dennis and Vander Wal,2009) and Well-Being Scale (Singh and Gupta 2001) adapted by the investigator was used for data collection. Results indicated that the female school students have higher level of cognitive flexibility than male school students. The rural school students are more cognitive flexibility as compared to urban school students. There was significant relationship between cognitive flexibility and well-being of school students.
Brain, the most complex object known in the universe, uses few watts of power. To mimic it a nuclear power plant will be required and this power house controls the human body, single handedly. Surprisingly, “On the left side, nothing is right and on the right side there is nothing left”. Typically, there are two lateral halves of the brain: Left hemisphere and right hemisphere working distinctly. Left hemisphere is inclined towards logic; Right hemisphere is the root cause of imagination added with critical thinking. In situations like the current pandemic, COVID-19, it is the right half which tends to dominate the processing. This gives birth to mental stress, anxiety thus, aggravating the existing medical condition. Considering this pattern, a survey was conducted in Durg district of Chhattisgarh, which is one of the most hard hit epicentre of the COVID-19 second wave in India. According to this survey, it was revealed that largely women of all age groups (10-25, 26-40, 40 above) were right brained i.e. dominance of right over left hemisphere. Being more imaginative and creative thinkers they are more likely to suffer from mental issues than males. The aim of this research is to improve the mental wellbeing of the citizens in such threatening conditions. To prevent this situation awareness is a must and some stress relieving games have also been created.
The study was conducted to explore the cognitive ability in relation to academic resilience and self-regulation among school students. The study was conducted on 100 school students from Patiala. Cognitive Ability Scale (Gupta and Lakhani, 2018), Academic Resilience Scale (Mallick and Kaur, 2015) and Self-Regulation Scale (Erickson et al., 2015) were used for data collection. The results indicated significant relationship between cognitive ability and academic resilience of school students. It was also found that a significant relationship exists between cognitive ability and self- regulation of school students.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
