Acicular a-Fe nanoparticles were prepared by borohydride reduction of Fez' in tubular lecithin reverse micellular solutions. Reduction o f low concentration (0.025 or 0.05 M F e e l , ) in t h e presence of a 1200 Oe magnetic field gave m o s t l y spherical particles with about
Iron particles were prepared by the sodium borohydride reduction of ferrous ion in tubular lecithin assemblies and a 1200 e magnetic f i e l d .When the reaction was quenched after two minutes more than 90% of the particles were acicular, s i n g l e crystal iron.As the reaction proceeded the percentage of acicular particles decreased, w h i l e spherical and chains-of-sphere particles were formed. After 30 minutes the predominant particle shape was chains-of-spheres. This change i n particle shape distribution was attributed to the ~r e a k -~p of the lecithin assemblies during the course of the reduction.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
