The sustain driver for AC plasma display panel should provide alternating high voltage pulses to ignite plasma and recover the energy discharged from the intrinsic capacitance between the scanning and sustaining electrodes inside the panel. In this paper, an efficient sustain circuit employing boost-up function is proposed to achieve a faster rise-time in order to be suitable to widely used the address display period separated (ADS) driving method. The proposed circuit improves the recovery efficiency, regardless of the variation of the panel capacitance. The principle of operation, features, and simulated results are illustrated and verified on a 7.5-inch diagonal panel at 200 (kHz1 operating frequency based on experimental prototype.

In order to improve image quality, there is a need for high definition, which is an increase in vertical lines. However, with such an increase, the data IC heat becomes an issue. The data ER circuit is used to solve this problem. We can eliminate the data ER circuit that is used by using a linear‐subfield driving, a new data switching algorithm, and a new subfield mapping in a 50‐in full HD PDP with single scan mode.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
