Counseling psychology, with its emphasis upon short-term developmental problem-solving, decision-making, and psychoeducational methods of helping people work with their problems (Super, 1955; Whiteley, 1984, Watkins & Campbell, 1989), has a unique approach to the use of testing. The following is a discussion of how I believe testing is used by counseling psychologists to enhance these five emphases.
