A acupuntura é um ramo da Medicina tradicional chinesa que foi aperfeiçoada com o tempo e técnica popular. Vem ganhando bastante espaço no tratamento de todas as espécies na medicina veterinária e na humana por mostrar bons resultados com um curto período de tratamento, sendo também, de baixo custo. Esse trabalho irá focar em relatar o caso de uma mico estrela tratada com acupuntura, e a importância e eficácia da acupuntura como uma forma terapêutica. O animal chegou com suspeita de trauma, apresentando principalmente incoordenação motora, cervicalgia, nistagmo e prostração. Devido à acupuntura ser uma técnica indicada em casos de problemas neurológicos, articulares, hepáticos e outros, foi adotado esse tratamento para recuperar a saúde e bem estar do animal. Foram realizadas dez sessões, uma vez na semana. Evidenciou-se a melhora da incoordenação motora já após a segunda sessão. Junto com o tratamento de acupuntura, ela recebia alguns fármacos para minimizar as alterações encontradas na bioquímica. Acredita-se que se o tratamento fosse realizado apenas com a farmacoterapia não teria o mesmo êxito, pois a cada sessão o animal apresentava melhoras significativas. Considerando a evolução do caso clínico e de alguns outros casos encontrados, pode-se afirmar que a acupuntura foi eficaz na recuperação desse animal. E que deve e pode ser usada em diversas doenças, visando sempre o bem estar do animal. Dados coletados e animal atendido no Hospital Veterinário da FAV/UnB – Setor de Animais Silvestres.
