In einer Interviewstudie wurde unter anderem untersucht, welchen Problemen und Schwierigkeiten Lehrkräfte in Bezug auf das Argumentieren im Analysisunterricht begegnen. Dabei wurde ein breiter Argumentationsbegriff zugrunde gelegt, der alle Formen des mathematischen Argumentierens, Begründens und Beweisens umfasst. Dieses Begriffsverständnis wird auch im vorliegenden Beitrag verwendet. Es konnte gezeigt werden, dass Lehrkräfte insbesondere Probleme haben, beim Argumentieren der Heterogenität der Schüler gerecht zu werden, und dass Lehrkräfte Schülerschwierigkeiten im Bereich der Sprache wahrnehmen (Scheffler, 2018; Bersch, 2019a, b). Bisherige konstruktiv ausgerichtete Arbeiten zum Argumentieren im Bereich der Analysis der Sekundarstufe II konzentrieren sich vorrangig auf die Argumentationsprozesse an sich und zugehörige Vorstellungen (z. B. Grundey, 2015), nicht aber auf Aspekte wie Differenzierung und Sprachförderung.
