El objetivo de este trabajo es discutir el abordaje del periodismo sobre el uso de agrotóxicos como situación generadora de injusticia ambiental. Para realizar tal reflexión, nos basamos en la serie de reportajes de Zero Hora publicados em diciembre de 2016 sobre la contaminación de productos de Ceasa, en Porto Alegre, por pesticidas prohibidos en Rio Grande do Sul (Brasil) o utilizados por encima del límite previsto por ley. Partimos de la concepción de Acselrad (2010) sobre justicia ambiental. Se trata de una noción que remite a las dinámicas sociopolíticas, pues compreende conflitos originarios de la violación de derechos de las comunidades humanas por el uso insostenible del ambiente. Para evaluar la repercusión de las injusticias en los medios, recurrimos a los presupuestos del Periodismo Ambiental, perspectiva que defiende la función movilizadora del periodismo a partir de una mirada compleja sobre los fenómenos (Girardi et al., 2012) a partir de un análisis descriptivo y cualitativo (Martins, 2001). Entre los resultados se señala que la serie no incorpora una visión sistémica del problema, ignorando los impactos de los agrotóxicos en toda la cadena productiva y en los ecosistemas.
