Resumido por el autor, James Rollin Slonaker.Estudio fisiol6gico de la anatomia del ojo y sus partes accesorias en el gorri6n ingl6s (Passer domesticus).El presente estudio, que incluye una detallada descripci6n macrosc6pica de todas las partes del ojo del gorri6n adulto, ha sido llevado a cab0 con la esperanza de que pueda servir de tbrmino de comparacibn con las estructuras semejantes de otras aves y probablemente con las de otros vertebrados. Se ocupa de esta materia bajo 10s siguientes epigrafes: El globo ocular; 10s piirpados; el aparato lagrimal; 10s mfisculos externos del ojo; la irrigaci6n sanguinea; la inervaci6n; el cristalino; la escler6tica y la c6rnea; la coroides incluso el iris, procesos ciliares, mdsculos ciliares, acomodaci6n etc; el peine (pecten) ; la retina y las pruebas musculares y visuales. Bajo cada uno de estos epfgrafes se exponen las funciones fisiol6gicas de las diversas partes, basadas en experimentos y deducciones. Solamente en algunos casos, cuando se ha considerado imprescindible, el autor ha intentado dar una descripci6n de la estructura celular de las partes en cuesti6n. Ha empleado, siempre que ha sido posible, la nomenclatura usada en la anatomia humana, en las descripciones de las estructuras semejantes halladas en el ave estudiada. Tambien se ha hecho una comparaci6n entre estas estructuras. El trabajo estii ilustrado con 37 figuras en el texto y 75 en las 1Aminas.
