AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses perubahan sosial yang terjadi pada petani Jawa dan petani lokal di Desa Mangoli Kecamatan Mangoli Tengah Kabupaten Pulau Sula Propinsi Maluku Utara. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa interaksi yang dibangun antara etnis Jawa dan etnis lokal membawa perubahan terhadap petani Jawa dan masyarakat Mangoli. Dampak interaksi di kalangan etnis jawa yaitu dapat bertani di atas lahan masyarakat lokal. Sedangkan dampak untuk etnis lokal yaitu memperoleh pengalaman dalam berusahatani. Fakta tersebut menunjukkan adanya perubahan sosial sebagai akibat interaksi. AbstractThis study was aimed to describe the process of social change occurred on the Javanese and the local farmers Mangoli village, Central Mangoli District, Sula Islands Regency, North Maluku Province. The sampling was taken by using purposive sampling method. The result of the study showed that the interaction which was built between the Javanese and local ethnics brings changes on the Javanese farmers and Mangoli community. The impact of the interaction within the Javanese ethnic was they can do cultivation at the land of the local community. While the impact on the local community was they get the experience of farming and entrepreneurship. The fact showed that there was a social change as the impact of the interaction.
