Este artículo logra establecer como los recursos y capacidades, desarrollados por un conjunto de empresasagrupadas por subsectores económicos, le otorgan eficiencia operativa o diferenciación a un subsector frentea otro. En el estudio se utilizó un análisis factorial para determinar las variables independientes y luego, unaRegresión Lineal Ponderada, para explicar el desempeño de los subsectores. Entre los principales hallazgos,se encuentra que el recurso humano, en términos de inversión en educación y capacitación y el desarrollo derecursos y capacidades tales como el capital humano destinado al manejo ambiental, tienen una incidenciapositiva sobre la productividad laboral y por ende en la competitividad de los subsectores colombianos. Sinembargo, en el caso de la innovación, la inversión en I+D, la protección y divulgación de los procesos deinnovación, reporta impactos negativos sobre la productividad, debido a la existencia predominante deinnovaciones de tipo incremental. En conclusión, el aporte de este trabajo gira en torno a como los recursos ycapacidades existentes en un subsector, pueden influir en las decisiones que tomen las empresas para mejorar sudesempeño e impulsar a su vez la productividad de su subsector.
There are different scales to measure value cocreation, but it still has no consensus about its uses. In this way, the aims to validate a multidimensional scale with seven factors related to individual characteristics and consumer behaviour included a new emerging dimension inside individual characteristics that are relevant to analyse value cocreation: power importance. The measurement instrument was developed, validated and tested using 1,300 Colombian and Vietnam consumers. For the final analysis, a confirmatory factor analysis was used, resulting in an adjusted and reliable multidimensional model. The results suggest seven dimensions (personal interaction, feedback, helping, tolerance, learning, personalization and power importance). Regarding the power importance that includes items that are related to the way in which consumers develop emotions at the moment of influencing others (authority, social recognized, wellness and monetary retribution). Finally, the present study contributes to the literature on value cocreation through the identification of a key aspect in the interaction between the company and the consumer. This term has recently attracted the attention of scholars and that has been little explored in the field of consumer behaviour.
PurposeThis paper analyses the moderation effect of country culture in the reciprocal relationship between the strategic orientations (Organizational entrepreneurship, organizational innovation and Organizational learning) and the export performance of the firms in two countries with different cultural characteristics (Sociability and Performance). In the same way, it is intended to evaluate if there is a reciprocal relationship between strategic orientations and export performance.Design/methodology/approachIn order to achieve the objectives of the research, a structural equations model is made. One of the benefits of this model is that it allows not only to analyze of the causal relationships of the study variables but also to identify of the behavior presented by the firms in their export performance activities. The database contains 400 SMEs from Colombia and Vietnam, with an export performance developed during 2022.FindingsIt was possible to verify a reciprocal relationship between the strategic orientations of organizational entrepreneurship and organizational innovation. However, the relationship between organizational learning and export performance must be validated. Similarly, it was found that countries with a cultural focus on performance will have better export performance than those with a focus on sociability.Research limitations/implicationsThe main limitation of this study is the focus on only two countries with diverse cultural characteristics. Future research will aim to verify these relationships with a more significant number of countries and over a more extended time range.Practical implicationsAccording to the results, assessing the firms' strategies to prioritize product innovation is necessary. This axis is fundamental because it is the means to create value for products and develop the capacities and resources necessary to compete in the international arena.Social implicationsAmong the most critical implications of a country are the social ones. Thus, to the extent that the results in innovation are more evident in the management area, this will help improve the production platform and general conditions at the country level.Originality/valueThe most significant value of this research is in studying the moderation effects of cultural approaches at the country level in the bidirectional relationships studied in this work.
Purpose This study aims to analyze the effects of cultural orientations (performance and sociality) on the trajectories of innovation inputs and their results in different countries worldwide between 2011 and 2021. Design/methodology/approach As a technique for data analysis, one of the spatial Bayesian models and Gray forecasting methods is used. This technique is adequate to achieve the objectives of the investigation because it allows analyzing how the variables move in time ranges and allow the generation of forecasts. This model also allows knowing if there are spills, which investing in a country can positively affect countries with geographical proximity. The databases used were the Global Innovation Index with data from 131 nations and the Globe Project with data from 157 countries between 2011 and 2021. The variables analyzed are institutions, human capital, research infrastructure, market sophistication and business sophistication. On the other hand, regarding moderations of cultural orientations, The Globe Project developed two factors: performance orientation (high degree of masculinity, avoidance of ambiguity, power distance and future orientation) and humane orientation (high-level of femininity, institutional and societal collectivism). Findings The results reveal that all inputs grow at different rates over time. In the case of institutions, it is the most difficult to generate changes over time. However, human capital, market sophistication and business sophistication are the ones that have grown the most over time, regardless of the country’s cultural orientation. Research limitations/implications Among the main limitations is the set of data used because it only considers one approach to culture, especially the one considered by Hofstede. However, other approaches could help evaluate the results of this research. Considering the results obtained, the study attempts to provide a different view of the effects of cultural variables on companies’ innovation performance in different countries in the world. In the same way, evaluating these effects allows firms to consider variables associated with the country that will affect the strategies and performance of the firm. Practical implications The results achieved make it possible to strengthen the analysis of the countries’ strategies when it comes to innovation, especially in the permanent evaluation of the results that allow to encourage changes in the execution of innovative activities to maintain their performance over time. Social implications The contributions allow us to understand the dynamics of innovation in the knowledge and creative outputs of countries over time. Originality/value The trajectory analysis used in the data analysis is perhaps one of the most robust techniques that makes a time series analysis. This allows identifying trajectories for the independent variables of the study and their influence on the innovation of the country.
