The aim of this article is to further knowledge of the explanatory processes of narrative persuasion in the field of health communication, using data obtained in a research study of entertainment-education based on audiovisual fiction. Participating in the study were 208 young persons between the ages of 14 and 20, randomly distributed to three different groups. Each of the groups was exposed to a different episode of the Colombian television series Revelados, desde todas las posiciones. The results showed that greater identification with the main character of the episode transmitting a prevention message was associated with greater cognitive elaboration, which in turn led to more favorable attitudes toward the topics addressed. However, counterarguing was not observed to play a significant mediating role. The findings of this study allow us to conclude that getting people to think and reflect can help persuade them, which suggests that narrative persuasion models and dual models of rhetorical persuasion can be compatible in certain contexts, such as when messages are designed in such a way that characters make explicit arguments that endorse a prosocial message through dialogues.

An integrative review of the literature of the last thirty years on evaluations of HIV prevention strategies implemented in the mass media in Latin America was conducted. A total of 246 documents were identified, of which 12 met the selection criteria and 15 campaign evaluations were identified. The results indicate that the most commonly used message was to promote the use of condoms. Most evaluations focused on remembering the message of campaigns and media exposure. Only three yield results on knowledge assessments and two on attitudes to condom use; nine reported behavioral changes. In conclusion, there are few articles with evaluation results. The assessment of behaviors is increasingly taken into account. Pre-experimental evaluation designs are used.

This paper presents the results of work on «Observar TV», a children's observatory of television launched in the city of Barranquilla (Colombia) in which children participated as protagonists in research, training and spaces for dialogue centred on their observations of television broadcasts. The goals of the project included: 1) to ascertain the reflection and discussion of preferences and opinions (expressed by boys and girls) regarding television; 2) to identify and discuss their imagery around citizenship in relation to coexistence and peace, multiculturalism and democratic responsibility and participation; 3) to understand the development processes that contribute to the construction of their critical thinking abilities regarding television and its consumption; 4) to increase the visibility of children as active participants in setting the public agenda of their city. This study was developed using a participatory action research approach that employed qualitative methods (focus groups, workshops, and observations) for the simultaneous execution of three components: research, training, and visibility/interaction. The results demonstrate that the child participants displayed a critical attitude toward television and expressed their likes and dislikes regarding television content. The participants took up the challenge to discuss, transform, or reaffirm their imagery relating to citizenship and strengthened their capacities in language and communication. The children expressed the reflections that came up in the work of the observatory by participating in the television program «Learning to watch television», that was produced by the regional station «Telecaribe». RESUMENEste artículo presenta los resultados de «Observar TV», un observatorio infantil de televisión puesto en marcha en la ciudad de Barranquilla (Colombia) en el que los niños y niñas participantes actuaron como protagonistas de los procesos de investigación, formación e interlocución llevados a cabo. El proyecto apuntó a: 1) La reflexión y discusión de las preferencias y opiniones que niños/as presentaron en relación con la televisión; 2) La identificación e interpelación de sus imaginarios de la ciudadanía alrededor de la convivencia y la paz, la interculturalidad y la participaciónresponsabilidad democrática; 3) El desarrollo de procesos de formación que contribuyeran a cualificar su capacidad crítica en torno a la televisión y su consumo; 4) La visibilización de los niños/as como interlocutores en la agenda pública de su ciudad. El proceso se desarrolló desde la investigación-acción participativa utilizando técnicas cualitativas (grupos focales, talleres y observación), para la ejecución de tres componentes simultáneos: investigación, formación y visibili za ción/interacción. En este número Monográfico se intenta presentar una actualización del debate sobre las problemáticas ambientales desde la comunicación, con tendencias contemporáneas que nos llevan al debate sobre la complejidad ambiental desde la comprensión de las diferencias y el reconocimiento de las relaciones entre la naturaleza, lo ecológico, lo ambiental y lo cultural. Este debate contemporáneo implica revisar el desarrollo industrial y los impactos de la era del antropoceno, las relaciones entre naturaleza y cultura, humano y no humano, y los conceptos de sustentabilidad o sostenibilidad, conciencia ambiental, ciudadanía ambiental, conciencia ambiental antropocentrista o conciencia ambiental biocentrista; en fin, retomando, entre otras preguntas: ¿cómo comprender lo ambiental hoy? ¿Cómo gestar y gestionar iniciativas o acciones relacionadas con lo ambiental? ¿Cómo son los discursos, las narrativas y el tratamiento de lo ambiental en los ámbitos de la comunicación? ¿Desde dónde pensar en la adaptación frente a los irreversibles efectos del cambio climático? ¿Es posible un cambio de modelo socio-cultural en relación con lo ambiental?
