A partir de discursos de la filosofía, la crítica literaria y el estudio de las emociones, se exploran las imágenes de inmigrantes, principalmente haitianas(os), en Estados Unidos. Se parte de un corpus textual que está formado por dos artículos de opinión y un cuento escritos por Edwidge Danticat: Trump Reopens an Old Wound for Haitians (2017), We Must not Forget Detained Migrant Children (2018a) y Without Inspection (2018b). Mi propuesta implica la identificación, la esquematización y el análisis de cuatro caracterizaciones que Danticat plantea alrededor de las(os) inmigrantes: a) seres vapuleados y rechazados por presidentes, centros de inmigración estadounidenses, medios de comunicación, bancos, realizadores audiovisuales, productores musicales; b) agentes y receptoras(es) de la compasión; c) individuos pobres y explotados, movidos por la necesidad de sobrevivir y no por el imperativo del rendimiento sugerido por Han (2012) para el mundo laboral contemporáneo; d) entidades invisibles e inexistentes en vida, y difuminadas en el momento de su muerte.
