Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo de caráter exploratório com o objetivo de analisar a concepção de saúde dos agentes penitenciários de uma cadeia pública feminina de município do médio norte mato-grossense. O estudo foi realizado em outubro de 2016, através de entrevistas com auxílio de roteiro semiestruturado elaborado pelos próprios pesquisadores. As entrevistas foram transcrita na íntegra e organizadas de forma sistematizada, submetendo a análise de conteúdo. Os resultados revelaram trabalhadores jovens, predominância do sexo feminino, casadas, com alto nível de instrução e renda mensal que ultrapassam à da maioria da população brasileira. Esses profissionais apresentam uma concepção de que a saúde se refere a ausência de patologias, acesso ao serviço e o bom atendimento, além de estar atrelada ao ambiente de trabalho e as relações interpessoais. Estudos nesse ambiente podem oferecer maior nitidez sobre as vulnerabilidades dos profissionais, de modo a subsidiar o desenvolvimento de ações de promoção de saúde e garantia dos direitos humanos.Palavras-chave: Promoção da Saúde. CONCEPTION OF HEALTH BY PROFESSIONALS FROM A FEMALE PUBLIC PRISON IN THE INTERIOR OF MATO GROSSOABSTRACT: This is a qualitative study of an exploratory nature with the objective of analyzing the health conception of penitentiary agents in a female public chain in a municipality in the middle north of Mato Grosso. The study was conducted in October 2016, through interviews with a semi-structured script prepared by the researchers themselves. The interviews were transcribed in full and organized in a systematized manner, submitting the content analysis. The results revealed young workers, predominantly female, married, with a high level of education and a monthly income that surpasses that of the majority of the Brazilian population. These professionals present a concept that health refers to the absence of pathologies, access to the service and good care, in addition to being linked to the work environment and interpersonal relationships. Studies in this environment can offer greater clarity about the vulnerabilities of professionals, in order to subsidize the development of health promotion actions and guarantee of human rights.Keywords: Health Promotion.
