Objectif : Cette étude vise à mieux connaître les croyances, les attitudes, et les suggestions quant aux interventions efficaces destinées à faciliter l'usage des moyens de protection contre le soleil, le port du vêtement de flottaison individuel (VFI) et l'absence de contact avec une eau impropre à la baignade. Méthode : Des entrevues ont été menées auprès de 36 usagers et de 2 animateurs de parcs riverains d'une rivière de la région métropolitaine de Montréal. Résultats : Les répondants reconnaissaient l'existence d'un certain nombre de croyances négatives et de barrières associées à l'adoption de ces comportements sécuritaires, plus particulièrement l'inutilité et les inconvénients des moyens de protection contre le soleil et du port du VFI, les effets négligeables de l'eau polluée sur la santé et le plaisir de défier les interdictions. Pour faciliter les changements de croyances, d'attitudes et de comportements, les répondants suggéraient des interventions aux niveaux de la législation, des organisations et des individus. Interprétation : Les données recueillies dans cette étude aideront à mieux choisir les stratégies d'intervention et à mettre en place des programmes favorables aux changements de comportement chez les populations ciblées.
