Decomposition of N-Monosubstituted Carbamic Carboxylic AnhydridesSome N-monosubstituted carbamic carboxylic anhydrides 3 prepared by reaction of a carboxylic acid2 with an isocyanate1 have been studied by IR and IH-NMR spectroscopy. After dissolution at room temperature, the anhydrides 3 decompose into their components. On reaction with aliphatic acids they yield amides and urea derivatives. The nature of the intermediates of their decomposition has been elucidated, and a reaction mechanism [reactions (1 8)-(24)] thus deduced.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
