The magnetic properties of twenty-one complexes of chromium, molybdenum, rhenium, osmium, and iridium have been measured between 80" and 300" K. The results are discussed with reference to the relation between the ligand fields, the interelectronic repulsions, and the spin-orbit coupling of the ions, and to the magnetic exchange between the ions. The results may be accounted for with reasonable values of the parameters after the fourth of these effects has been allowed for.
BinucZear CompZexes.-(a)[lih2(q-C5H5f2(CO),] ( 1). This red crystalline complex has been demonstrakd to possess one bridging and two terminal carbonyl groups in the the two terminal carbonyls being in a trans orientation. Hydrogea-1 n.rn.r. (303 K) and i.r. measurements indicated t h a t only one isomer of (1) also of a trans geometry existed in solution.1974, 77, 1.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
