Zusammenfassung Ziele der Feldstudie waren, eine vergleichende Einschätzung von pH-Wert-Messung und Titration des Pansensafts vorzunehmen und die Aussagekraft der Sedimentaktivitätszeit (SAT) und Methylenblauprobe (MBP) hinsichtlich des Pansen-pH-Werts zu betrachten. Material und Methoden: Die Untersuchung umfasste 293 Pansensaftproben von klinisch gesunden Färsen (n = 24) und Kühen (n = 62) aus 10 Milchviehherden. Pro Tier wurden vier aufeinander folgende Proben zu unterschiedlichen Zeitpunkten entnommen: 1. Trockenstehperiode/Färsen; 30 Tage ante partum bis zur Kalbung; 2. unmittelbar postpartal, 0–7 Tage post partum (p. p.); 3. Frühlaktation, 8–30 Tage p. p. und 4. Mittellaktation, 80–150 Tage p. p. Ergebnisse: Zwischen Kühen und Färsen wurden bei den gemessenen Parametern keine Unterschiede festgestellt. Ebenso bestanden keine Unterschiede zwischen den Betrieben. In der Trockenstehphase ergaben sich die höchsten pH-Werte. Die niedrigsten pH-Werte wurden bei Frischabkalbern und Kühen in der Frühlaktation ermittelt. Im Vergleich mit dem physiologischen Bereich (5,8–7,2) wiesen 20 Tiere pH-Werte von < 5,8 (davon sechs Tiere mit pH < 5,5) und 21 Tiere von > 7,2 auf. In der Trockenstehperiode war die durchschnittliche Titrationsbilanz ausgeglichen, während bei allen drei Probeentnahmen in der Laktation ein Basendefizit vorlag. Die Pufferkapazität war in der 1. Woche p. p. und in der Frühlaktation signifikant vermindert. Zwischen Pansen-pH-Wert und Titrationsbilanz bestand eine enge Korrelation (r = 0,98, p < 0,001). Die SAT und die MBP unterschieden sich nicht gesichert zwischen den Probeentnahmen im Untersuchungszeitraum. Schlussfolgerungen und klinische Relevanz: Da die Messung des Pansen-pH-Werts den Säure-Basen-Status präzise widerspiegelt, bedarf es für die Routinediagnostik nicht der aufwendigeren Titration. Die Titration bietet jedoch die Möglichkeit, die Pufferkapazität und damit die Robustheit des Pansen-pH-Werts zu beurteilen. Die SAT und die MBP sind für die Diagnostik von subakuten Störungen des Säure-Basen-Status des Pansens nicht geeignet.
Zusammenfassung Gegenstand und Ziel: Subklinische Pansenazidosen gelten als eine häufig auftretende Veränderung des Säure-Basen-Haushalts beim Milchrind. Zielstellung der Untersuchung war, bei Rindern zu unterschiedlichen Laktationszeitpunkten gleichzeitig den Pansen-pH-Wert und Parameter des Säure-Basen-Haushalts des Harns zu bestimmen und die Aussagefähigkeit dieser Parameter hinsichtlich des Vorliegens subklinischer Pansenazidosen einzuschätzen. Material und Methode: Bei 348 Färsen und Kühen in 10 Milchviehherden erfolgte die simultane Gewinnung von Pansensaftproben mittels Pansensaftentnahmegerät nach Geishauser sowie von Harn mittels Blasenkatheter. Bestimmt wurden der Pansen-pH-Wert, der Harn-pH-Wert, die Netto-Säure- Basenausscheidung (NSBA) und der Basen-Säuren-Quotient (BSQ). Ergebnisse: Die Korrelationen zwischen Pansen-pH-Wert und HarnpH- Wert (r = 0,19, p < 0,001), Pansen-pH-Wert und NSBA (r = 0,13, p = 0,018) sowie Pansen-pH-Wert und BSQ (r = 0,13, p = 0,017) waren durch niedrige Koeffizienten gekennzeichnet. Ebenso ergaben sich für alle Parameter des Säure-Basen-Haushalts des Harns eine geringe Sensitivität und ein niedriger positiver Vorhersagewert hinsichtlich des Vorliegens einer Pansenazidose. Schlussfolgerung und klinische Relevanz: Die Parameter des Säure-Basen-Haushalts des Harns eignen sich für das Einzeltier unter Feldbedingungen nicht zur Abschätzung des Pansen-pH-Werts. Die Diagnose einer Pansenazidose muss auch weiterhin mittels direkter Untersuchung des Pansensaft-pH-Werts gestellt werden.
