Se analiza un ensayo de germinación en laboratorio para evaluar el efecto de cinco dosis de radiación gamma (10, 20, 30, 40 y 50 Gy) más un testigo sin irradiar, sobre los parámetros capacidad de germinación (CG), energía germinativa (EG) y periodo de energía (PE) de semillas de Eucalyptus nitens. Se concluye la existencia de un efecto significativo de radio-hórmesis asociado al tratamiento de 10 Gy, el cual aumenta la capacidad germinativa respecto al testigo sin irradiar. Ninguno de los tratamientos restantes resulta diferente al testigo en capacidad germinativa, energía germinativa ni periodo de energía.
Se comparan los resultados con los registrados en la bibliografía y se plantean recomendaciones para estudios posteriores en esta materia.
<p>Un fantasma recorre el mundo: el de la obesidad, el sobrepeso, la desnutrición, la malnutrición y todas sus consecuencias concretas en el bienestar de las personas, de las familias, de las sociedades concretas (de sus economías, de sus formas de organización política y de sus culturas) y del medio ambiente. No basta decir que “es un monstruo grande y pisa fuerte” o que “solo los más fuertes podrán sobrevivir”. Nos hace falta describirlo, caracterizarlo, relacionarlo y conocerlo para poder actuar sobre él, conjurarlo en contra de sus graves consecuencias, pero parece ser que ese “fantasma” no se deja conocer de cualquier modo.</p><p>La problemática socioalimentaria es un caso modelo para estudiarse como un sistema complejo. Es decir, hemos intentado comprender dicha problemática como una totalidad relativa constituida por una selección arbitraria de elementos que los distintos y diversos componentes de la sociedad vincula en sus actividades con la noción de <em>alimentación</em> en el sentido más amplio del término.</p>
