The chemical composition of isolated human hair melanosomes was studied. It was found that hair melanosomes contained 60.54 ± 3.99% of melanin which puts them among the most melanized particles. The amino acid analysis revealed all 18 usual amino acids in the hydrolysate, whereas DOPA could not be found. These data were compared with those of melanosomes isolated from human malignant melanoma.
Phenol can be removed from cokery effluents by oxidation to melanin on the action of mushroom polyphenoloxidase. Under optimum conditions - pH 8.8, temperature 30°C - 98% phenol can be removed in this manner within 48 h.
The insertion of lithium into Li 4 Ti 5 O 12 in aprotic electrolytes was investigated. Average capacity 100 to 130 mAh/g and potential range 1.2 to 1.5 V (vss. Li) were found. The insertion of litium yielded in extended decrease of material resistivity and was accompanied by coloration of the material from white to deep blue. Both changes were reversible.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
