Elastic and inelastic scattering angular distributions were measured for the 16 Oϩ 64 Zn reaction at bombarding energies close to the Coulomb barrier. The experimental data were analyzed within the optical model and coupled-channel model. An extended dispersion relation of integral quantities using a Gaussian weight was applied, instead of the normal relationship. Within this frame, the optical model parameters obtained from the data are in agreement with the dispersion relation and show the threshold anomaly at energies close to the Coulomb barrier. Analysis of the inelastic scattering angular distributions leads to some indications that an inelastic threshold anomaly is beginning to develop at energies lower than the ones for which our data were taken. ͓S0556-2813͑96͒01106-5͔

With the view of extending the systematics of odd-odd Pr nuclei toward the N=82 closed shell, high-spin states in ~38Pr nucleus have been investigated with the *2STe(~N ~4nu reaction.Configurations and spin assignments are suggested for three of the observed bandstructures.

We measured the total destruction cross sections of small X n Ϫ clusters (XϭSi and C; nϭ2, 3, and 4͒ in noble gas targets ͑Y ϭ He, Ne, and Ar͒, with relative velocities v in the 0.10-0.95 a.u interval for silicon, and in the 0.20-1.20 a.u. interval for carbon. The measured values increase monotonically with target and projectile sizes, as expected on a geometrical basis. In particular the dependence of the cross sections on n is linear for carbon clusters, agreeing with a quantitative model based on the linear structure of these clusters. Ratios of the measured cross sections for the several X n Ϫ clusters, X,n Ne (v)/ X,n He (v), X,n Ar (v)/ X,n He (v), and X,nwere verified to fall into universal curves, i.e., each cross section is the product of target-and projectiledependent factors.
