Many strength and conditioning professionals have included the use of foam rolling devices within a warm-up routine prior to both training and competition. Multiple studies have investigated foam rolling in regards to performance, flexibility, and rehabilitation; however, additional research is necessary in supporting the topic. Furthermore, as multiple foam rolling progressions exist, researching differences that may result from each is required. To investigate differences in foam rolling progressions, 16 athletically trained males underwent a 2-condition within-subjects protocol comparing the differences of 2 common foam rolling progressions in regards to performance testing. The 2 conditions included a foam rolling progression targeting the mediolateral axis of the body (FRml) and foam rolling progression targeting the anteroposterior axis (FRap). Each was administered in adjunct with a full-body dynamic warm-up. After each rolling progression, subjects performed National Football League combine drills, flexibility, and subjective scaling measures. The data demonstrated that FRml was effective at improving flexibility (p ≤ 0.05) when compared with FRap. No other differences existed between progressions.

Synovial sarcoma (SS) is a neoplasm that poses diagnostic problems, due to its histologic heterogeneity. The poorly differentiated variant, in particular, may be histologically indistinguishable from other small round cell tumors. Detection of the synovial sarcoma-associated t(X;18) or SYT-SSX fusion transcripts may be necessary to confirm the diagnosis of SS in difficult cases. Most of SS carry a t(X;18) in about one third of cases as the sole cytogenetic abnormality. We evaluated a case of poorly differentiated synovial sarcoma and their derived tumors in nude mice xenografts and cell cultures. We used a panel of antibodies (including those to intermediate filament, nerve-sheath associated markers, and neuronal and neuroectodermal related antigens) to better establish the immunophenotype, supported by the ultrastructural evaluation. The tumor exhibited the distinctive cytogenetic abnormality t(X;18), together with a der(1)t(1;22)(p36;q12). Present results show that this poorly differentiated synovial sarcoma not only expresses conventional biologic and genetical markers for SS but also neuroectodermal features when transplanted into nude mice and cultured in vitro.
Factorial design has been used to study the effect of cutting parameters on acoustic emission signal response during the drilling of composite laminates. Experimental design is a strategy of planning, conducting, analyzing and interpreting experiments so that sound and valid conclusion can be drawn efficiently, and economically. In this study, effects of cutting speed, feed rate and tool diameter on the acoustic emission signal response are investigated using acoustic emission's energy, amplitude, root mean square and frequency responses and 2 3 factorial design for drilling operation. Cutting tests were performed under dry conditions. Calculated effects, standard errors at 95% confidence level, and models governing the acoustic emission response to the cutting conditions have been generated from the acoustic emission signal responses. The results revealed that, acoustic energy response has significant effects due to the cutting parameters. Hence a model can be established to relate the acoustic emission's energy response and the cutting parameters, and as a result monitor and control the area of delamination during the drilling process.
