Bei Einwirkung von Chlorschwefel auf Kautschuk wird sich die Reaktion zunachst an der Oberflache der Micelle abspielen, ein Teil des Chlorschwefels wird sicherlich dazu verwendet werden, um Briicken zwischen Olefin-Bindungen ein und derselben Micelle zu schlagen, ein anderer Teil aber auch zur Verkniipfung von Doppelbindungen benachbarter Micellen dienen. Hierdurch ist dann eine feste Verkniipfung, gewissermaflen eine Verkettung der Micellen, a n einzelnen Punkten gegeben.Wir glauben, daB auch die HeiBvulkanisation ihren Grund in der chemischen Verknupfung von Olefin-Bindungen hat und damit von Micellen miteinander. Ob hierbei, wie wahrscheinlich, schwefelhaltige Ringe entstehen, 1aBt sich erst sagen, wenn man einmal genauer iiber die Einwirkung von Schwefel auf die Olefine unterrichtet sein wird.Bei der Vulkanisation mit groBeren Mengen Schwefel oder Schwefelchlorid verschwindet die Dehnbarkeit. Dies erklart sich daraus, daB viele Schwefel-Briicken an und in den Micellen das ganze Gefiige verfestigen (Hartgummi).
