A 13-year-old girl first underwent ventricular drainage at the age of 5. She developed voluntary movement myoclonus of the left hand 7 1/2 years later. A CT scan of the brain 6 months later demonstrated a thalamic cyst consistent with a granulomatous reaction to the shunt.
Abstract-The A.A. advocate a "longitudino-axial" mode of CT-scanning in examinations of the thorax and suggest it as the standard mode in children and adults of small stature. The full development of the method is at present limited by the design of both hardware and software of the current generations of CT-scanners, The rationale behind the new mode is that the images obtained by standard radiography and longitudinoaxial scans will be similar and thus more familiar to radiologists and more easily comparable.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
