Information on (1) the viscosity levels that permit the most efficient pavement construction operations and (2) the viscosity factors most desirable for pavement performance is meager and clouded by the influences of asphalt mix compositions. The temperature viscosity and viscosity rate of shear characteristics of the asphalts can be measured on the original material and on material separated from the mixes and from the pavement. These viscosity factors can be used in the design and construction of the asphalt pavement and for comparing the performances of the asphalts.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
