El uso de agua residual tratada de origen urbano para irrigar suelos agrícolas destinados a la producción de forrajes es una alternativa que favorece el aporte de nutrientes al cultivo y minimiza la contaminación en los sitios de descarga; sin embargo, se requiere conocimiento acerca de la calidad de esta agua. El objetivo del estudio fue determinar la calidad del efluente de cuatro plantas tratadoras de agua residual (PTAR) de la Comarca Lagunera. Los análisis de calidad se llevaron a cabo con las metodologías de diversas normas nacionales. Los muestreos a las plantas tratadoras se realizaron durante once meses (abril 2014 a febrero 2015). Los resultados muestran poca variación mensual a excepción de la planta LA1. Los afluentes de PTAR LO1 y LO2 tienen de 22 a 25 mg L-1 de N, mientras PTAR LA1 tiene mayor concentración de P 4 mg L-1 y K 22 mg L-1, en cuanto la calidad agronómica es cuestionable por la alta salinidad y sodicidad. En cuanto a los parámetros microbiológicos todas las PTAR exceden los límites máximos permisibles (LMP) de la NOM- 003- ECOL- 1997 en cuanto al contenido de huevos de helminto, excediendo también los LMP metales pesados, de la NOM-001-SEMARNAT-1996 en Pb y Cd.
