In education, teaching literature is an essential way to strengthen students’ character building. A kind of literature to teach character building is drama. Drama is literary work that contains so many characters. It can be used as a tool for character development to students who have been taught with literature. This article aims to discuss the characters of Nora Helmer (a woman lived in Victorian era when women had powerlessness) in A Doll’s House Drama written by Henrik Ibsen. The method used is descriptive qualitative. It concentrated on providing explanation in the form of description about Nora Helmer’s characters that could be taught as students’ character building. The analysis of Nora’s characters results several findings. Woman’s figure represented by Nora’s characters are loyal, love and compassion; obedient; care and helpful; patience and spirited; responsible; brave. The findings show that a woman at that time even though she had a lot of difficulties, she tried to solve the problem, she tried to be the best for her husband and family. But when she was disrespected, she had to be brave to uphold her dignity. This article expects the students can increase their good characters, competence, conscience, and compassion in learning language.
This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of YouTube Music platform as teaching media to improve students’ listening mastery. It is believed that YouTube Music as an innovative media could be used effectively to attract students’ interest in increasing their listening mastery. By using true-experimental research with quantitative design, there are 52 students were divided into two groups, 26 students for experimental group and 26 students included in control group. This research used test and questionnaire as research instrument. There are several findings to prove that YouTube Music platform is an effective media to improve students’ listening skills. By conducting test as first instrument, it was found that the average score of students taught by YouTube music was 79.85. It was higher than those who taught by conventional media (71.50). By analyzing the data, it can be concluded that there are significant different between students taught by innovative media than those taught by conventional media. This result also affected by students’ perception in learning listening which was found by students’ answer from questionnaire.
The outbreak of Corona Virus Disease or known as COVID-19, appeared for first time in China, precisely in Wuhan at the end of 2019. This virus then quickly spread to some countries in this world including Indonesia so it is referred to as a pandemic virus. Additionally, COVID-19 has also become a terror for almost all of communities because of its enormous impact in economic, educational, social and even religious aspects. This article is intended to observe about validity of the COVID-19 issues that has been going around among communities against Maqoshid Syari'ah, especially in the community of Pojok village in Blitar Regency. This study applies a qualitative descriptive research method by verifying the data through 3 approaches, namely the data approach, researcher perspective, and theoretical approach. The result indicates that the communities’ belief of the COVID-19 issues validation was based on phenomenon evidence and clarification carried out by the community. By believing the validity of these COVID-19 issues, the community has implemented the shari'ah which is by avoiding (Hifdzudnnafsi) themselves from the dangers of COVID-19. Therefore, the communities of Pojok Village have already implemented dharuhiyyat as an effort to protect the ummah and also apply certain prayers such as sholawat Tibbil Qulub and Li Khomsatun sholawat to seek protection to Allah SWT.
