RESUMONas últimas décadas, os altos índices de urbanização combinados à falta de planejamento adequado têm gerado uma alta taxa de impermeabilização, alterando o ciclo hidrológico, logo, consequências negativas ao ambiente. Neste contexto, o presente trabalho teve por objetivo o estudo de uma sub-bacia localizada no município de Mandaguaçu -PR e a proposição de um projeto de drenagem urbana com medidas compensatórias sustentáveis. A coleta de dados foi realizada in loco e somada a métodos tradicionais de cálculo bem como a utilização de software de análise e dimensionamento de rede de drenagem pluvial Bentley® SewerGEMS®. Foram comparados os aspectos funcionais, ambientais, hidrológicos e urbanísticos em dois cenários de desenvolvimento. O cenário I sendo composto apenas por medidas higienistas, apresentando resultados insatisfatórios de vazão e velocidade e, potencializando o impacto no corpo hídrico receptor. Já o cenário II, composto por medidas ambientais, como bacias de detenção, sendo esta satisfatória e evitando possíveis consequências negativas à jusante devido à proposta de utilização da área em épocas de estiagem, apresentando um caráter multifuncional, pois possibilita ganhos urbanísticos e paisagísticos, associados a áreas de lazer. Ressaltando desta forma a importância de estudos comparativos e o emprego de medidas de preservação ambiental e populacional.
