Debido a los grandes problemas de movilidad de la ciudad de Bogotá por la construcción de nuevos trayectos viales y reparación de tramos existentes de pavimentos en losas de concreto, se requiere un procedimiento que agilice estas obras y que a la vez favorezca al medio ambiente, que por una parte permita la conservación y preservación de los recursos existentes, como los agregados, y disminuya la contaminación que produce la fabricación del cemento y promueva el uso de materiales renovables, como es la madera. Ante la necesidad de realizar y ejecutar obras rápidas y eficientes, se propone hacer un cambio en el sistema estructural de las losas, que consiste en remplazar las losas de concreto reforzado por losas prefabricadas de madera con una capa de rodadura. La manera de garantizar que las estructuras de madera trabajen como un solo elemento es mediante la utilización de uniones simples y uniones dentadas con vigas laminadas, para lo cual se utilizaron simulaciones numéricas por el método de los elementos finitos, de manera que se pudiera representar el comportamiento de éstas losas de madera con su componentes en condiciones de diseño y tráfico real.
